Food And Wine

Food and wine... they go together like, well, food and wine. Despite what you may have heard about pairing red wine with beef, white wine with fish or chicken, there are no real rules about pairing food and wine. If you like the combination, then it is a good combination.

There are some guidelines for pairing food and wine, even though there are no rules. Acidic wines pair well with sour acidic foods, or with salty foods. Likewise, sweet wines pair up well with sweet foods. If you have a wine with a high level of tannins, it would pair well with rare beef, since the proteins in the meat calm the tannins.

Other than these guidelines, how you pair food and wine is ultimately up to you. If you have a bottle of bordeaux wine in your wine cellar that you want to try, try it with several different foods, and see what you like best.
