Food Sensitivites And Depression

Sensitivities to certain foods and allergies can cause depression.
Foods you crave are likely those that you’re allergic too.Sugar is the number one offender where there’s a link between food sensitivities and depression. If you read the label on the foods you commonly eat will likely find they contain some form of sugar. Most canned foods have sugar as the second or third item listed in ingredients. Sugar puts the body on a roller coaster ride and overtaxes the pancreas and other organs. When one organ is on overload the others, and not equipped to do the job, take up the slack. This places overloads on them and the problem snowballs. Other foods that are high on the sensitivity list are milk and dairy products and wheat. Soybeans, peanuts, potatoes, eggs and tomatoes also show up on most food allergy tests as offenders. Allergies can trigger depression. Dog and cat hair, pollen and other common allergy causing items can cause bouts of depression. Check with your care giver to see if they can test you for allergies if depression is a problem. Inadequate blood levels of zinc can cause depression. If you are sensitive or allergic to a long list of foods, the cause may be a low level of zinc. Authorities suggest supplementing the diet with 15 mg of zinc, three times a day before each meal, if low zinc levels are a problem. Digestive enzymes may also prove to be helpful. If you don’t digest your food properly the result will be slow bowel transit times, putrefaction, toxic buildup and poisons being introduced into the bloodstream. This will in turn overload the rest of the system and can cause many other problems.Systemic candida albicans may be at the root of your food sensitivity and depression problems. Candida is a yeast infection and can pollute the bloodstream. OVergrowths of candida are often the case after antibiotic use. Antibiotics kill everything, the good and the bad. After an antibiotic regimen it’s very advisable to take probiotics. Intestinal flora is a necessity for good health. Probiotics, of which acidophilus is only one, encourage the growth of good intestinal flora, . A healthy intestinal tract contains billions of good and bad flora without probiotics after antibiotics, it’s likely that the more aggressive yeast like fungi will grow out of control. Some years ago I had the opportunity to participate in Olympic training camps and seminars. During that time I was put on a diet high in sugars. Not long after going on the diet I found my energy and stamina levels at an all time low. The doctors, including sports medicine doctors, couldn’t find the problem. My wife diagnosed it as candida overgrowth, She was correct. There were, and are, drugs available for the problem but everyone I knew who took them only had temporary relief. I found raw garlic took care of the problem. I ate two cloves with every meal until I began to sweat garlic. It wasn’t helpful from a social standpoint but it took care of the problem and my social standing was reinstated after a month or so.Share it! — Rate it: up down [flag this hub]
