What is IBS? (Irritable Bowel Syndrome)

Irritable bowel syndrome is a functional disorder of the bowels. This means that there are no physical conditions in the body that contribute to this ailment. In Simple terms what this means is that if you were to look inside the bowels of an IBS sufferer you would not find any physical abnormality.

So if there are no physical indications in the body about this aliment what causes it? Well there are two theories at the moment

1. That the colon muscles of Irritable Bowel Syndrome sufferers are particularly sensitive

2. There is an excess of bad bacteria in the small intestine of IBS sufferers.



What Are The Commons Symptoms?

There are many symptoms associated with IBS, but the most common ones include bloating, constipation, diarrhea, constipation, flatulence, nuasea,, spastic contractions of the colon and abdominal pain, just to mention a few
