One of the greatest players to grace Europe in the 1990's. A prolific goalscorer at international level, the forward was at his best playing just behind the front men, where his clever passes bewildered opposition defenses. The Dutchman scored memorable goals for every team he played for. His last minute winner in the 1998 World Cup quarter final against Argentina was probably his best ever.A major force  for Holland , when they were beaten semi-finalists in the EURO 2000 Championships Dennis retired from international football gaining 79 Caps for Holland,scoring 37 goals.


Football Info.

His club career began at Ajax making his debut in 1986, and in only his first season helped them to win the European Cup winners' Cup, and the KNVB Beker (Dutch FA Cup).He was soon a regular in coach Johan Cruyff's team,as they took the Eredivisie title in 1990.The centre-forward was at his goal scoring peak, and he was the Dutch football leagues top scorer from1991 to 1993 with a haul of 122 goals from 239 games.This form helped him add a further FA cup medal and EUFA Cup medal.Bergkamp's time with his next club Inter Milan were not his happiest as he only scored 11 goals in 50 games. he signed for Arsenal in 1995, and it was under manager Arsene Wenger he played his best football.Dennis won three Premier League Titles and four FA Cup winners medals.He retired in 2006 having scored 120 goals in 423 games for the Gunners.

Joined Inter Milan in 1992  for a then record fee .of £8million.He was the butt of the Italian clubs team jokes.(The player's "donkey of the week" competition was renamed" Bergkamp of the week").

Refused  to fly after an incident aboard an aircraft in America in 1994. Afterwards he would only play in matches he could reach by train or coach.

 Nicknamed the" Ice Man" at Arsenal for the cool way he took penalties.

Scored a Hat-Trick against Wales in a World Cup Qualifier in 1997.

Became the first player ever during the 1997-1998 season to win the top three goals in the BBC's Match of the Day "Goal of the Month" competition.
