Answers On The Sand

Laura Ann had been thinking, she thought best when she could walk in the sand in the cool of the night. There was something about the feel of her bare feet and the sand of the beach that helped her focus on whatever was troubling her. Tonight she really had been thinking.
For so many reasons Laura Ann did not want to leave the beach town where she was making footsteps in the sand and for so many reasons she did want to leave.
After making footsteps in the sand for a while, Laura Ann decided to take the job offer in a city three thousand two hundred miles away from the sand she was walking on but would plan on staying there for only two years. If she really liked the new town she could extend the time but knowing she would come back to the beach town where she was making footsteps gave her a great deal of comfort.
When she reached her decision she looked down and noticed another set of footsteps in the sand. She wondered whom they belonged to and if that person was like her, making footsteps in the sand in the cool of the night because something was troubling them. She wondered if they were, what might be troubling that person.
These footsteps belonged to Tom. He had been thinking, he thought best when he could walk in the sand in the cool of the night. There was something about the feel of his bare feet and the sand of the beach that helped him focus on whatever was troubling him. Tonight he had really been thinking.
In an hour and half he would be asking his Amanda for her hand in marriage. He quickly made arrangements for Amanda to come to the sand. She too thought best when she could walk in the sand in the cool of the night. There was something about the feel of bare feet and the sand of the beach that made asking Amanda to be his wife easier Soon Amanda made her first two footsteps in the sand. Tom got down on one knee in front of Amanda with the full moon over his shoulder and the water in front of her and asked her to be his wife. She said yes.
As she hugged and kissed him, he looked down and noticed another set of footsteps in the sand. He wondered whom they belonged to and if that person was like him, making footprints in the sand in the cool of the night because something was troubling them. He wondered if they were, what might be troubling that person.
These footsteps belonged to Mary. Mary had been thinking, she thought best when she could walk in the sand in the cool of the night. There was something about the feel of her bare feet and the sand of the beach that helped her focus on whatever was troubling her. Tonight she had really been thinking.
As Mary made footsteps in the sand she found herself walking near a beach parking lot. In spite of herself she gazed at the parking lot, not sure why she was looking or what she was looking Suddenly she noticed a car pulling in to the beach. It was her boy friends’ car. He had two girls in it. He and one of the girls were wrapped up in each other in a way where it was hard to see where one ended and another began, at least it was from where she stood in the sand in the cool of the night.
Mary called her boyfriend from her cell phone and asked him to meet her in the sand. She watched him attempt to disengage from the woman he was attached to. She watched how it took him three tries before they uncoupled. As her soon to be ex boyfriend came near her Mary was glad to be standing in the sand. There was something about the feel of bare feet and the sand of the beach that helped make what she had to do easier.
Her boy friend made two footsteps in the sand before she said. I asked you to come to the sand to tell you that our relationship is over. He said No we can make it work! She thought that she was glad he didn’t make acting as a career. She could still see the lipstick on cheek and neck. She told him that they were making footsteps in the sand going in different directions. She began to make footsteps in the sand again. Her ex boyfriend made a feeble attempt to follow after her until he heard his name called and made footsteps in the sand towards his car.
As she made more footsteps in the sand she felt an immense wave of relief flooding over her. As it did she noticed another set of footsteps in the sand. She wondered whom they belonged to and if that person was like her, making footsteps in the sand in the cool of the night because something was troubling them. She wondered if they were, what might be troubling that person.
She looked just a little further ahead and noticed who was making those footsteps in the sand and discovered that those footsteps belonged to Ken. He had just a little more time to walk in the sand, but he still needed more time, much more time. Time was running out. Ken had been making footsteps in the sand because he needed to think, he thought best when he could walk in the sand in the cool of the night. There was something about the feel of his bare feet and the sand of the beach that helped him focus on whatever was troubling him.
Mary began making footsteps in the sand right next to Ken. She introduced herself and explained why she was making footsteps in the sand. In spite of himself he smiled. She was a hard lady not to like. He sensed somehow she was someone he could talk to. He told her why he was making footsteps in the sand. He told her that he had to decide to end life support for his wife. He told Mary how much he loved his wife and how it was tearing him apart knowing that he had to make a decision that would ultimately end her life.
He asked Mary that if he leaves his wife on life support against her wish doesn’t that mean that his love for her isn’t very strong?
Mary told him “No it did not mean that at all, that it just meant he loved his wife so much that he didn’t want to let her go.” She asked him “if anyone who truly loves someone ever wants to let them go?” She told him “That because he loves his wife that she knew he would respect her wishes.”
He asked her if she would go with him when he went back to the hospital. She told him “That this was a decision that he had to tell the doctors himself.” She said, “That this isn’t a decision you are making alone. This is a decision you both made nine months ago. This is a decision that when you tell the doctor to end life support for your wife, you and your wife will be sharing in the decision.” She told him “
That this is a decision that no young man should have to make especially alone. Aren’t you glad that you don’t have to? Aren’t you glad that you and your wife talked about the possibility before the possibility became a reality? He told her that he needs a friend and asked her if she had a place in her heart for a friend like him. She said having a friend like you makes my life so much richer.
As they exchanged addresses and telephone numbers he looked down and noticed another set of footsteps in the sand. He wondered whom they belonged to and if that person was like him, making footsteps in the sand in the cool of the night because something was troubling them. He wondered if they were, what might be troubling that person.
These footsteps belonged to Richard. He had been thinking, he thought best when he could walk in the sand in the cool of the night. There was something about the feel of his bare feet and the sand of the beach that helped him focus on whatever was troubling him. Tonight he had really been thinking.
Richard had been diagnosed with terminal cancer three months ago. He was given six months to live. Richard was trying to make a decision. He had to decide if he enough courage to end his life tonight or if he had even more courage to let his disease end his life on it’s time table. This was his decision and his alone. In spite of what he knew about the future if he just let the disease take it’s course he had decided to do just that.
As he made more footsteps in the sand he noticed another set walking with him. As he noticed the other set of footsteps he felt the spirit of quietness, the spirit of a dove descend upon him. He knew that the footsteps walking with him were made from the Son of God. He felt as if his eyes were suddenly opened.
He felt that God wouldn’t have blamed him if he had taken his own life tonight but that there was so much God could do with his life by making the choice that he did. He knew that his life for the remaining months, weeks, days hours, minutes and seconds that he had left wouldn’t be easy. He knew though that they would be rich. He knew that he would see things in a way he never had before. He was able to see life in light of eternity. He knew he was afraid but that he wasn’t alone that he could hold tight to God when things got hard and he was at peace.
As these realizations hit him he looked down and noticed another set of footsteps in the sand. He wondered whom they belonged to and if that person was like him, making footprints in the sand in the cool of the night because something was troubling them. He wondered if they were, what might be troubling that person.
These footsteps belonged to Pamela. She had been thinking. She thought best when he could walk in the sand in the cool of the night. There was something about the feel of her bare feet and the sand of the beach that helped him focus on whatever was troubling him. Tonight she had really needed to think.
