The Neighbor's Weeds Take Over

Everyone deals with good and bad neighbors but when your neighbor's weeds begin to take over your lawn you need to take action to preserve the lawn you love. Our neighbors let the weeds grow to over a foot tall before they cut the grass but the weeds had gone to seed and began to spread.

I make a meticulous effort to maintain a good look in our yard and became very upset when the invasion began. Not knowing what else to do, I decided to reclaim part of their weed field and restore grass to the area. I began by mowing our yard and continued well into the area they are supposed to maintain. Next I applied Weed and Feed to our lawn and the reclaimed area of the weed field.

Do not do this:

Too much weed and feed
Too much weed and feed

Overapplying Weed and Feed Burns Grass

Unfortunately, I made a couple of mistakes in the application of the Weed and Feed.  I watered the lawn before application as instructed to do by the package.  However, I made a couple of mistakes.  First, I had treated our lawn about a month ago and this second application was too early for the first treatment to disipate.  Second, I waited for rain to water the grass and am still waiting.  This effectively burned the grass in some of the treated areas.

Disaster Recovery

In order to stop the lawn from burning any further, I began watering the lawn in select areas every evening.  I am still waiting for rain but the watering is beginning to turn the burned areas green again.  Weed and Feed does a great job of eliminating weeds and applying color to a lawn when used according to directions.  I am still watering the lawn to get the green back but the weeds are gone.
