For People Who have Trouble with the *God Thing* or ^Organized Religion^
67The Divine is not a Mystery
I am going to really open up this one...I am pretty dern sure that the christian bible-toting revolation thumbing bookers are not going to like this but - hay - they never like anything i write....AND to ice the cake they actually pretend to *pity* me. :} LOL
I doubt there were very many children who were madder at "GOD" than I was at the ripe old age of 9. I prayed in empty churches after school everyday when I was 9, for my father not to die.
- he died.
I did the same for my mother 6 months later
- she died.
I was 10 years old.
I didn't think "GOD" heard the very earnest prayers of children or that I must be one very *bad* child*.
I believe it was Albert Einstein who said :
"Either GOD is everything or nothing"
The major problem in this realm today that I see people facing is that man-made bible thumpers religions (which are political) and a **Spiritual Connection** are not the same thing. NOT EVEN in the same Plain.
Dogma from man-made organized religion are not generally spiritual in nature and are generally aimed to *shame*. (uck-who needs that?) Shame blame you sinners! yadda yadda. Gee, glad you are on YOUR way to perfection.
That is not what I walk with.
That is not the drummer's beat I hear.
Want to find your very own very REAL personal God?
The one that LIVES inside of you?
Try this. If you get results worth mentioing (and wow-I sure did!) Please comment.
Here is the activity to do:
Pick up and pen and a paper - (sorry, no spreadsheet - NO computer)
Draw a line down the middle -
On one side at the top write:
What my God is not like -
On the other side write:
What my God IS like -
You just might be amazed at what just simply flies out of your hand (if you are *open* ) really *open-minded * to this activity. For me, it wrote itself and when i was finished I *KNew AND FELT* MY OWN PERSONAL CREATOR.
The divine is in every thing...IMHO, It is people who shut off the source of the Power. The Power is always there...available to us if we choose it....but I have not found mt Creator to be pushy. :}
I have witnessed pure true miracles that defy ANY earthly known logic...
I *KNOW* the Power exists; I was simply in the wrong places...too much bad karma or something. I honestly don't know.
I just do not see it bound into any man-made sect; nor have I ever felt it there - I tried.
Best regards, Melanie

Very wish, I believe my way. Not the way a church or someone else tells me to.
Dear Private Eye 2500,
How do I attempt to respond to your Hub. You crafted your words so that it is a rethorical, exercise. You have your idea, of what God is allabout and that's-that.
Since joining your Fan Club; I have read a few of your Hubs. The one thing I take away, as I read between the lines, in your writings; is that [YOU] truly care about other people.
You always try to provide advice that will make our lives less of a hassle. You supply us with, information, that is timely, much as your latest hub on Spamers dose.
After reading this hub it has occured to me that your love for others is a trait the is enherited, from your parents. So that knowing you; is in a way; knowing them.
And that is what makes this response, difficult. You see I read the Bible and rather that allow Satan to take the joy and hope out of my life, I stay away from the pitfall, of looking at the Bible as something writtren by men to be inturpeted, from several different, points of view.
Before I go any further, let me address your retorical out line. There is a pathological condition known as, Paraniod Scysophrania, and no, I am not accusing you of suffering from this, psychological, affliction.
However according to the medical community, Pariniod Scysophraina, is considered to be an incurrable disorder. Reason being; the person suffering form the disorder believes that those making the diagnioses and prescribing treatment are, not trying to help but attacking them.
So when you make a statement about Bible Thumping, religions you seal your self in true spiritual, self defete.
Next, as far as having your own way of worshiping and recognizing God, [YES] and no one can take that form you. But please consider this, if you have any degrees or certificates, that hang on your wall; to announce your qualifications to perform as a Private Eye, you know that you had to sastisfy a strick regime of study and testing to be deemed worthy of revieving the presentation.
The Bible when view in a narrow context of understanding falls short, based on the preception and the anticipation of the reader. But when viewed as part of a bigger picture, and as a; living document, written by men inspired by God, through the Holy Spirit; it has one objective.
That objective is: to make known God and his ultimate purpose for creating the Heavens and the Earth. The BIble tells of how a Being with awesom powers/[GOD] set out to create a tribute to the greates thought He ever had.
That thought being a universe bound together in peace and hormony, and the realization that the only way this could be was if it was built on a foundation of [LOVE.]
Next, was to determine that, in order to undertake the task of bringing this monumental work into being; he would need a helper. So what was created out of the goal of building a monumen to [LOVE] would be [LOVE] itself.
So as if from Birth Panes, Jesus Christ/Michael- Was born, his only begotten Son. And in the Beginning there was the [WORD]-[LOVE], and the word was with God and the [WORD] was like God.
The Bible goes on to tell, how through the work of the [WORD] all things in Heaven and upon the Earth were created. [OLD TESTEMENT]
It speeks of how mankind, decieved by Satan, disrupted the completetion of the fulfillment of God's purposes. and how in order to rescue the creation, the [WORD] in the preasence of Jesus Christ, redemed creation. [NEW TESTEMENT]
How He died at the hands of God's chosen people; willingly so that those believing in Him may enjoy living forever, on a paradise Earth.
To those of us who truly know and understand the Bible, Revelation, is not the end of the Bible but the announcment of the final chapter of God's purposes fulfilled.
The Bible also talks about the resurrection and uses [Jesus's] life and death, to firmly plant the idea in our minds of God's power to bring us back from the grave.
I understand Your frame of mind; at loosing your Father and Mother, and how that must feel. My Mother recently died and I felt a certain relief, would I have ratahered she continued to live yes, but remember, God sacrificed his only Son, so that Your Father and Mother and mine, could hope in-and benefit form the resurrection. God can undo whatever man can do, and Jesus defeted death.
The path to everlasting life is clearly laid out in the Bible. How closely your way of acknowledging God, may or may not, have your persent for the reunion of your family, I can only imagine.
But imagine, the disappointment of your Father and Mother when they awake form their [long sleep] looking for their little girl and not find her.
Their earthly fate was temperary, and you have a chose as to whether you can be their when God keeps his promise to them and the awake from the grave.
As you said, don't let man; either make or break, the Bible for you. Read it for Yourself, and read it with an eye on the Big picture.
Once you have a clear understanding of The Bible; if you don't see yourself standing and crying, tears of [JOY] with your resurrected Father and Mother. [PLEASE- FOR-GIVE-MY-FORTH-RIGHTNESS] Then, the God [YOU] found after you wrote your list is a figment of your imagination. From the peace you discribed; I don't think this is the case, [GOD] knows you, and [HE] is waiting for [YOU] to take your relationship with [HIM] to the next level. Accurate knowledge of [Jehovah God]
Thanks Jeromeo for saying you feel I care about people.
I'm not so sure I'm happy with being slightly noted in the mentally ill dept. but hay - you have your opinion, every body has one.
For the millions of people who are not bible thumpers, it really helps and gives comfort to feel your own god in your own heart - and YOU nor ANYONE can take that away from those millions of us any more than can we - nor would we want to - same with you ppl. Thing is - I don't try to ram it down ppl's throats - I only wrote this to be helpful, to give an option to those who feel lost and I found it to be so helpful for me.
Simple and effective to the degree of changing my life in a very dramatic positive way as I know it has done for others.
The only church I've ever been to that I found it be INCLUSIVE rather than EXCLUSIVE meaning excluding the ppl who didn't by into the dogma was in california and it was awesome. At least there is one out there....that does not judge....and tell us all we are WRONG and sinners go to HELL or whatever the flavour of the month is.
P.S. And WHO are you... really...any of you...to be SO arrogant as to say and believe that you KNOW the MIND of the Creator???:?
WOW.
Great Hub, privateye - everyone has to find their own spiritual path. If yours works for you, that's all that matters. And personally, when Jeromeo talks about Paraniod Scysophrania (sic), maybe he should have a look at himself...
P.S. FYI - if you don't see yourself standing and crying, tears of [JOY]
Yes, that did happen as a matter of fact - it was a spiritual experience I will cherish for my entire life.
And I did Not *see* myself, I was experiencing it - My eyes had nothing to do it other than they were leaking a lot :}
Hi Melanie,
I don't have a problem with God. It's his fan club I can't stand.
ROTFL!!!!!!!!!
THAT....is TRULY the most Wity comment I have ever seen on the subject!!!
Oh - it is just too good!
I love this hub. I believe that each of us has to find God in his or her own way. I am still on the journey, having survived cancer that ravaged my body, the deaths of close friends, poverty as a youth, great success as an adult, guilt and self-hatred, crippling injuries, cataracts, (sh*t, I sound like Job now, okay I shall stop). Anyway, it is through all of those experiences, and the way I responded, and my family and friends responded, and the universe responded, that I am slowly finding my way to God. Great hub. Great approach.
I hope I made some sense.
Thank you James for seeing between the lines - the world is SO not black and white - it is all shades of gray.
Melanie
I really enjoyed this hub and to be frank, have some difficulty understanding one of the reactions. I didn't find this hub to be derogatory of anyone's personal faith, the opposite in fact. I was in my late 30's before I was awakened to the simple fact that we all have the right and responsibility to find our own spiritual truth. The difficulty always arises when others try to proclaim theirs as "THE truth" and that everybody should believe as they do because - it is sooo obvious to them - they are the only ones who "have it right". My path is pagan but I have never had a deeper reverence or love for the Creator. Had I allowed the mistaken and erroneous notion that their way was the only way to rule my life, I'd still be very lost. I would never have experienced or learned some truly remarkable things that the church classified as being evil or devil-inspired. I find it both refreshing and encouraging that people are waking up to the fact that we have the right to choose our own form of spirituality, free from the dogma, doctrine and the "carrot or stick" routine used to control the masses...it makes me shake my head in wonder sometimes. On one hand, the church claims that our rewards and riches for good deeds will be in heaven and yet also claim that heaven is a place where these aren't even needed because God will supply everything. If one doesn't go along, they are threatened with eternal damnation. That type of carrot and stick worked well in a society where only a small percentage were actually literate and information could be strictly controlled.
You'll have to excuse my ranting...I know that there are some people who need those strict guidelines of organized faith and a single view of God as being a male entity whom we "must" love and fear simultaneously but that doesn't apply to everybody. My personal view is that if we are all made in the image of the Creator (as the Bible clearly states in Genesis1:26..."Let us make man in OUR image...) and our world is populated by both males and females, it only makes sense to me that the Creator has both male and female energies. But that is only my viewpoint but one that I am totally comfortable with accepting. I don't think I'll try your writing excercise - although it is an excellent idea for somebody who is still searching - but only because I am very happy with the direction of my own sprituality and vision of the Creator. It doesn't mean I close my mind to the opinion of others regarding spirituality - because there is still so much for me to learn and that knowledge and wisdom can come from very unexpected places - as long as it makes sense.
A very interesting hub and you make some great points and I agree that there are definitely varying shades of grey. Blessings.
I also had an awakening of sorts--well the kind that was SCREAMING at me then. I am writing my book as I speak and the introduction and 1 and 2 chapters are published here. The thrid on is wehre it gets more infomatinve as to my awakening and it has alot ot do with what is said here. Great HUB!! Sorry so short but company just pulled ip!!
Dear bright_sorcerer; thank you for your insighful musings. I feel a kindred spirit when I feel one.
I feel sad for the people who are so close-minded. What a way to live your life. The ol' "I'm a Lutheran cuz my great grandpa was a lutheran and..." so forth down the line.
There is no thinking involved in that. None.
And are we not supposed to think?
That is one of the main points; to think for ourselves and to stand up for what we believe in - you know the song - you gotta stand for somethin' or you'll fall for anything."
Stand up and be counted on - and the only thing that would make it wrong is if you try ramming it down other peoples throats (hurt them). Like the Catholics and those Lutherans....
Trust me when I tell you I was a lutheran because my family was lutheran and they DID ram it down my throat and yes, it DID hurt me a lot.
No hurting allowed!
None! No witch-hunting, no torture, no spanish inquitions allowed, no boy-raping allowed.
NO HURTING!!
Oh and BTW - for the RECORD - I do not have Pariniod Scysophraina...
Perhaps you may?

Thanks, Melanie :)
I'm not sure I gonna try your method just yet - I asked myself and I don't seem to be rushing to grab a pencil - but reading about your experience adds another facet to my understanding of how world works :)
