For Tomorrow's Sake

It is a day for tomorrow's sake,

a day for the covered porch,

to breathe sweet the cedar air,

benumbed by the soft, white droning

of the delirious and gentle rain;

to heal among the covered earth,

make peace and come to terms,

allow time to purge the wounded edge,

and lift the weight of wasted breath.
