Ford recall
A product recall is a request to return to the manufacturer of a lot or
a total production run of a product, usually due to the discovery of
security issues. The recall is an effort to limit liability for
corporate negligence (which can cause costly legal penalties) and to
improve or avoid damage to publicity. Recalls are costly to a company
because they often entail replacing the recalled product or paying for
damages caused in use, albeit possibly less costly than indirect costs
following damage to the brand and the decline in confidence the
manufacturer.
The laws of a country's consumer protection
have specific requirements regarding product recalls. These rules may
include the amount for which the manufacturer will have to bear,
situations in which a recall is compulsory (usually because the risk is
quite large), or penalties for failure to remember. The company can
also initiate a voluntary recall and may be under the same rules as if
the withdrawal was mandatory. In the case of a mandatory retirement,
consumers who can not dispose of it or return it to the manufacturer
for replacement or refund could be fined up to $ 5000.
Ford
issued the largest recall in its history as the driver of
another 4.5 million vehicles were alerted to a fire hazard of a faulty
switch.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
said it was the withdrawal of sessions, with a total of 16 million Ford
Motor (F, Fortune 500) vehicles on the cruise control deactivation
switch manufactured by Texas Instruments (TXN, Fortune 500) .
The faulty switch can leak hydraulic fluid, overheating, smoke and then
burned, and risk of causing a fire, even when the engine is off, parked
and unattended, the agency said.
The risk rises to 1.1 million Windstars that were the subject of a government investigation, said Ford spokesman Wes Sherwood.
"We determined with the government that there is a low risk of fire to
vehicles," said Sherwood. "The other 3.4 million other vehicles are
vehicles that have the Texas Instrument switch, so we're reminding
reassure customers and prevent future recalls."
Sherwood added that Ford has always gone beyond recall only cars that are at risk.
Although the company does not treat its current suppliers, Sherwood
said that Ford vehicles do not use the Texas Instruments in the
post-2003 models.
NHTSA said Ford drivers should look for
warnings of possible impending fire, malfunctioning cruise control
systems and brake lights and ABS and warnings from the brake light on
the dashboard. The safety agency also said that the difficulty in
getting the vehicle out of park mode should be treated as a warning.
"I urge customers to heed this warning and bring the affected models to
have them repaired as soon as possible," said Transportation Secretary,
Ray LaHood, in a statement.
Ford is notifying customers and
teaches them to take the vehicles to dealers for free installation of a
fused wiring harness to eliminate the risk of fires, NHTSA.
The safety recall is planned for around October 26. Owners may contact
Ford at 1-800-392-3673 or NTHSA safety of vehicle, phone 1-888-327-4236

Buying a new or used
vehicle, can be a daunting task. Most consumers who may choose to
purchase a new vehicle instead of a pre-owned one. The common
misconception of these purchases of new cars is that new cars will be
free of mechanical failure that often pre-owned pest or used cars.
Defective parts on new cars have led car manufacturers like Ford, to
issue warnings massive recall from consumers who thought they were
buying a safe vehicle. Many times, these withdrawals are extended to
older vehicles as well, but their owners do not realize. Here is a
partial list of Ford vehicles with factory has recently recalled due to
defective parts, and other information important to consumers when it
comes to recall the vehicles.
2009 Ford Ranger 4x2 Truck
#
On February 3, 2009, Ford issued a recall on the truck model 2009
Ranger 4x2, due to a defective spindle axis. These axes were
defectively manufactured, and consumers were warned that these hubs can
separate from the vehicle while driving, causing a crash. This recalls
affecting more than 11,000 trucks, 2009 Ford Ranger. Repairs of
vehicles affected by this recall can be done in Ford dealerships at no
cost to the consumer. The repairs were approved by Ford and began on
February 27, 2009. Consumers who have one of the potentially affected

2009 Ford F-150 Trucks

on the brake light turns on 2009 model F-150 trucks. These switches
contain a short, which can delay the lighting of the brake lights when
the pedal is depressed by the driver. Due to potential safety hazard
that it presents, these switches failed brake Federal Motor Vehicle
Safety Standards. Approximately 8,000 vehicles were affected by this
recall. These switches can be replaced at Ford dealerships, from May

and Ford are working together to replace the fuel system components in
those vehicles. Owners of affected models are encouraged to contact

Ford Service Bulletins and Track Record
#
Statistically, Ford is first to remember that most vehicles in each car
manufacturer in the world. Vehicles recalled in 4809 under his belt,
Ford has the worst track record of any automaker in safety and
reliability of its products. Consumers should not be fooled into
thinking that just because a vehicle has been recalled it is safe. That
is not the case.
Ford also questions about something called
service bulletins on their vehicles. These are the newsletters that
consumers know that they are aware of some problems and mechanical
issues in their vehicles that make them potentially dangerous to drive
but has not issued a total withdrawal of the vehicles yet. See the end
of this article for links to websites to see if these service bulletins
issued for your vehicle.
What to do if your vehicle has been recalled
# If you find that your vehicle has been recalled, the first thing to
do is be aware of the terms of Ford's promise to repair usually runs in
retirement. While withdrawal can include a wide range of model year,
there could be stipulations as vehicle mileage and time frame that
passes since the recall was issued for the consumer to react to the
warning. If these conditions are not met, Ford usually does not honor
the promise of compensation. Moreover, not all local dealers honor
Ford's promise of repairing a vehicle recovered, so it's prudent to
contact them before taking the vehicle in
The Ford Taurus has
been a popular car model from the 1980s and continuing through 2009. As
with many vehicles, there have been issues that have led to certain
models being recalled for possible safety hazards. But most remember
came with a remedy for the problem.
Electrical 2006
1. Some 2006 models were recalled due to a problem with the electrical
system. The problem was not widespread as it was limited to a specific
commercial fleet. Due to the special wiring needed to install a
handsfree cell phone system, wiring for airbag deployment has been
installed incorrectly. The vehicles were to be returned to the dealer
for replacement of a wire harness coating.
Visibility 2006 Issue
2. Some models have been constructed without proper lubricant for the
wiper motor. As a result, the wipers may fail when operating at high
speeds, which could lead to reduced visibility during bad weather and
accidents. The owners were instructed to return the vehicle to the
dealer to check the presence of lubricant and to make repairs if
necessary.
2004 Assembly seat
3. Some 2004 models built with
power adjustable seats may have experienced inadequate welding
procedures during assembly. This could result in the seat to be
released in an accident and cause additional injury. The owners were
instructed to return the vehicle to the dealer to replace the seat
assembly.
2002 to 2003 windshield
4. Several models from
2002 to 2003 were made with windshields that could result in wind noise
and may also escape during a rain or snowstorm, resulting in unsafe
driving conditions. The issue could result in a greater risk of injury
during an accident. Owners were contacted and informed to return the
vehicle to the dealer for the windshield replaced.
2003 Engine Cooling
5. On some models 2003, in the document located at the air filter could
be burned. This could lead to the possibility of the engine catching on
fire. The owners were instructed to return the vehicle to the dealer
for replacing the air filter element.
