I Told You So-The Ultimate Hits Of Randy Travis (2 CD)
Price: $11.98

This has to be one of the sweetest songs I have ever heard. Randy's voice just sounds like the country. Maybe Tennessee, Kentucky or North Carolina, where he was born.
When I play this song, I can almost see a young Randy walking down a country road on a lazy afternoon, his heart light with his love. Maybe he is on his way to her house to propose.
As he strolls, he really does see things like old ladies sitting on porches, gossiping about old men as they split beans, or old men talking about the weather, glancing at the sky and hoping for rain. Somewhere, a horse whinnies.
And when Randy sings about loving you forever and ever, you know you can take it to the bank.

Garth Brooks - Friends In Low Places
Being somewhat politically incorrect myself, I find this song by Garth Brooks to be one of the most fun country songs out there. It is an older song but has held up well over the years. Some people like to brag about having friends in high places - Movers and shakers and people who can get things done for them with a single phone call.
Not Garth. He's got friends in low places.
The difference is, he doesn't have to be nice to his friends in low places just so he won't lose favor with them - He can be himself, drink beer instead of champagne, and wear his boots and jeans instead of a stuffy tuxedo. I have had lots of fun dancing to this song - There's something almost amazing about a bunch of strangers dancing and singing along together with one song. Garth Brooks will be coming out of retirement soon - He has been a stay-at-home daddy for years now. I look forward to his return.

Ronnie Milsap - There's No Gettin' Over Me
This is a great song to two-step to. Some people write from their own experience. As you listen to this song, you wonder about the artist - Did someone break it off with him? This song has a very nice saxophone bridge in it that is almost kind of sexy, and unusual in a country music song. He makes you wonder just what kind of guy he is that is so hard to get over. Old love affairs are like that - They materialize at odd times, like maybe a bill comes with their name on it, or you're just driving along minding your own business and 'that song' comes on the radio, and there you are wondering exactly why you gave the guy the boot in the first place. Ronnnie Milsap knows a lot about women.

Billy Ray Cyrus - Achy Breaky Heart
I challenge anyone hearing this song in a smoky bar or even just a BBQ to not dance to it. You just can't resist! All you need is one cowboy hat, some jeans, a pair of boots and a western shirt. Then just mosey on over to the dance floor, which is usually a giant wooden platform. Just watch what other people are doing, then find a spot and follow suit.
Just watch these girls doing some very basic steps:

Line Dance 101: A Quick Start Guide to Line Dancing (Shawn Trautman's Learn to Dance Series)
Price: $14.99
List Price: $24.99 |
This song has been criticized over the years, even appearing on some people's "worst songs" lists. But I proudly proclaim my love of this song just because it's got a catchy melody and it's fun to dance to. Even if you get the steps wrong, who cares? You'll have a lot of fun anyway, and isn't that what some music is all about?

I like "I've Got Friends in Low Places", mostly for the clever rhyme with "oasis"!
I love all of these songs- it was nice to see the old pictures- brings back college memories!
Great hub cosette Randy Travis is just about my favorite singer. And I don't consider myself a big fan of country music, but his voice is so rich and beautiful.
Another great hub from Cosette! I tell you, I surprised myself. I was dancin' all over my little apartment, and I'm not even that big a fan of country music. (I like classical, reggae, rock, and you're OLD blues--Mississippi John Hurt, like that...)
My favorite Garth song is The Thunder Rolls. There's just so much passion in it. I also like the Eagles (yeah, yeah, not country) but whatever :D Thanks for showing us another side of you, cosette!
yeah, i thought the 'oasis' rhyme was pretty clever too :)
thank you for your comments, you guys. i'm glad you liked my hub. Garth is coming back...interesting, no?
I love music myself,...This was a nice treat, haven't heard Ronnie Milsap in awhile,...But you left out my favorite,..My Keith Urban,..LOL. Eye candy and talent all in one,..hehe
I'm a big fan of classic country music, but I enjoy some of the new songs as well. Good hub!
Good sharing.
Ah some of my favs here for sure.
Thank the good lord for Country music! Great hub!

"Forever and Ever Amen" was the FIRST country song I ever heard. It is definitely one of the greatest! Maybe I can blame Randy Travis for my romantic idealism?!
