Low Carb Madness

I've been reading a lot of articles lately praising low carb diets and exclaiming them as the best way to lose weight. Not only does this type of low carb diet leave us with very minimal energy it puts an enormous strain on your liver.

The lack of carbohydrates triggers a reaction in your liver that tells it to burn excess fat and soon your liver is running in overtime and yes you do lose weight but you lose it the unhealthy way with your body screaming out for carbohydrates the whole time.

Unhealthy Catwalk

We've all seen those runway models they look like a bunch of twigs wobbling down the runway, these are the same people that hooked on this low carb diet craze and most of these models are extremely weak, lack nutrition in there diet and are extremely unenergetic.

The reason this low carb diet craze has really stuck is that most people who have had trouble with there weight mostly blame carbohydrate high foods for there weight gain as most people will indulge in high carb snacks rather than high sugar snacks like most people believe.

We all know what happened to Dr.Atkins the founder of a low carb diet craze he died of a heart attack kind of ironic really. His diet also suggests incredibly low amounts of carbs which are almost impossible to follow which then leaves you buying expensive protein shakes and bars made by the Atkins brand.

Healthy Carbs

So you want to lose weight, its not going to happen by completely ignoring carbohydrates all together that is insane, since when have human beings become non carb eating beings. Some of the healthiest foods are high carbohydrate foods including rolled oats which is useful for lowering cholesterol, brown rice, and nuts.

The main kind of carbohydrate you want to avoid is processed carbs this includes breads and pasta's made with refined flower. The best way to look at it is don't eat anything that you cant grow or kill and by following that principal you can shed large amounts of weight with little effort the only change is your diet.

Carb Cycling

So I know some of you will be saying you can't eat carbohydrates at all because you seem to pack on that weight straight away. It's all about timing the carbohydrate meals correctly for example, I will look at my day for tomorrow and If I'm doing any sort of physical exercise that will give me an excuse for taking carbs. I say excuse but its not really its basically topping up your energy supplies before you go for a run or to the gym.

The key to weight loss is carbohydrate cycling this means on exercise days you can eat your carbs and on days that you're not exercising keep your carbs to a minimum. Remember if you love your carbs the best time to ingest them is in the morning when your glycogen levels are depleted and this gives you the whole day to burn these carbs off so really get into that breakfast on your exercise days and boost your metabolism with a big breakfast.

I have seen a lot of books selling the idea of carb cycling as if its some sort of crazy new method to loose weight when its a very simple idea.

I believe that you have the answer. We apparently are stuck with a primitive monitor system that goes back to when we hunted for our food. Some days were good and some days were lean. The brain tries to control the feast and famine by always considering the famine. So cycling whether it is food or exercise throws the brains survival mechanism into one that we can sort of control.

Atkins on one end and Pritkin on the other end of unrealistic diets are desperate life styles.
