Forgotten Software Revisited - Auction Software
65Introduction
Have you ever forgotten that you bought software? I had wanted to set up a Wordpress blog for my auctionstartup.com site and wanted to be able to display eBay auctions. Then it struck me that I thought I bought a plug-in a while back that can integrate eBay auctions into Wordpress. Lo and behold, after an hour or so of searching, I found a package called phpBay.

Don't You Hate When That Happens?
Don't you hate when that happens? Anyway, I'm glad I found it. So I started reading how to install the software and it was really easy. At first it was asking me for my license code and said that I had to log into the site to get it. Back the bus up, I thought. I didn't even remember that I had the software. How the heck was I going to remember my log in information for their site? But then I did some more searching in my emails and found the necessary credentials. I was excited.
It Turned Out To Be Rather Easy
I followed the instructions, got my license code, uploaded the plug-in and configured it, just like the instructions showed. Everything worked flawlessly. Again, I was getting even more excited because I could now incorporate eBay auctions into my Wordpress blog and wouldn't have to wait to have a full fledged program before publishing to the web. I now had the capability to put up auctions on my site.
Easy Yes - But There Is More Help If Needed
I am impressed with just how easy and powerful phpBay is. The instructions tell you everything you need to get up and running and the options are fairly self explanatory. I am hooked now. I had previously purchased the Build-a-Niche-Store software. That too, is powerful but doesn't really work with Wordpress. So I can have my cake and eat it too. I can use the Build-a-Niche-Store software for the main site and use phpBay for the Wordpress blog.
I've Run Into This Situation Before
Forgotten about software is a problem I've come across before. It's frustrating. But at the same time it's cool when you find it again and can put it to good use. Auction software is getting more sophisticated and this is true of both Build-a-Niche-Store and phpBay software. I enjoy developing blogs now more than ever because of phpBay. It's fast and easy to configure (the first time will take the longest but it truly is easy).
Conclusion
The manual that ships with the software is probably all you need to get going but there are tutorials available on the web site. Plus the forums can help anyone that gets stuck get some further help. If you are looking for the ability to add categorized eBay auctions to your Wordpress blog, look no further than phpBay. And perhaps like me, your phpBay is forgotten software that you need to revisit (perhaps reading this article will spur the memory that you too bought the software at sometime.) If so, search for it, get it configured and start displaying auctions on your site. If you've never bought it before, no worries. It's still available for you to pick up.
