We all know it's becoming increasingly more difficult to find a decent job, especially in the states with an extremley high unemployment rate. You may have lost your job, or you just want to have a little bit of extra income. Regardless of your situation, free work from home jobs are available.

You may be thinking "nothing is really free", or "you get what you pay for". In a way, free at home jobs - aka no fee work at home jobs - do cost you something - time and effort . The truth is you do have to work hard to earn a decent amount of money.

In a previous article, I wrote about legitimate online jobs, and listed several companies who hire home workers. This article is a bit different; it is intended to give you ideas and resources for at home jobs that net you some extra money.

CAUTION: You have to be aware of what to watch for when it comes to when seeking a work from home job. It's amazing how many individuals try to take advantage of others. It's more amazing how many people get taken in by the scammers. In order not to get caught up in a scam, following are some clues to watch out for:

• "You can work a few hours a week and still make hundreds of dollars". This indicates a scam
• "You can make hundreds of dollars a week working from home". This indicates a scam
• The ad contains a lot of capital letters and exclamation points
• The ad contains symbols that are not regular punctuation symbols
• The ad is vague - it does not describe the nature of the job but claims you will make a lot of money
• You feel pushed into making a speedy decision

So...what are some good, free work from home jobs???

WRITING

If you enjoy writing, you can write articles or blog posts on various topics with any of the following writing venues. All of these writing sites automatically incorporate revenue generating ads - which means you basically only have to write blog posts or articles according to their terms. The money generated may not be much, especially at first, but the better your writing, the better your chance of making money.

• PayPerPost This is a venue where you write blog posts about various websites, products, services, or companies - advertisers are willing to pay you for your writing.
• Helium Here you are joining a community of writers. Articles are ranked by readers and other writers, and you are paid based on your article's rank. An article's rank is based on the quality, amount of visitors to the article, and advertiser's interest in the article.
• HubPages Sign-up is free and you can write about virtually any topic you like. The better the article, the more visitors, and the more money you can make. You receive a portion of the revenue generated from advertisements within your article. You must also have an account with Google Adsense (generates the ads) to track the revenue generated. In addition to Google Adsense revenue, you have the option to have Kontera ads and relevant items from Amazon.com displayed within your article (so people can make purchases of itemes that pertain to your article).
• Squidoo is very similar to HubPages. Money you earn is based on a portion of the revenue generated by ads that are displayed within your article.
• Xomba This is another Google Adsense revenue sharing site, you have the option to write articles or simple "blurbs" (small snippets). You are paid a portion of the Adsense revenue generated.
• Triond Write an article and if Triond thinks it's acceptable they will publish it on a website for you. The more views you get on this web-page the more money you earn. Triond is another Google Adsense revenue sharing site.

SURVEYS AND OPINIONS

Earing money doing surveys and opinion polls is not as plentiful as you may think. It takes a lot of surveys to be completed in order to make some extra spending money, but - fortunately - there are several firms that pay for you to complete surveys or opinion polls. You can sigh-up with any or all of them. The more you join, the more money you can make. Keep in mind, though, that some of these firms don't actually pay money. Instead, they provide products or vouchers.

• Opinion Outpost You will earn Opinion Points for each survey you complete, which are redeemable for cash. 10 Opinion Points = $1.00. In addition, some surveys may offer other payments, such as a sweepstakes or other prizes. Surveys are by invitiation based on demographic information submitted when you register. Free to join.
• American Consumer Opinion Win money in monthly drawings just for being a member. Win money in drawings when you fill out a screener (a short questionnaire). Get paid each time you complete a survey (a longer questionnaire). Free to Join.
• Vindale Research Evaluate online products and services. Free to join, you first have to go through their three part introduction process. Every survey is worth real money, not points. Typically, payment is between $5 and $75 per survey depending on difficulty level and availability.
• Survey Spot Pays about $2 to $10 per survey, although not all of the surveys are cash surveys, some are for sweepstakes entries and their Instant Win Game Play.
• Global Test Market You'll receive money for every online survey you take, even if it turns out you are ineligible to complete the survey. Once you reach 1,000 MarketPoints, you can redeem your balance for $50 U.S. dollars.

Paid Forum Poster

We have all utilized the wealth of knowledge found within a specific online forum. People post questions, other people answer their question. Did you know you can make money posting answers on forums? The money is not that great - average .10 per post (yes, that's ten cents) - in fact it may take a lot of forum posting to make even a few dollars. It is time consuming, but if you have the time you can make a bit of extra money. This is an area that is growing in popularity due to the need for good transcribers. To get started in medical transcription, you muct complete a thorough training course that lasts about 9 months. After completing the course, you will be able to work for one of the many companies seeking medical transcribers, or you may work as an independant contractor. Regardless of your choice, this is a job you can do at home. You will be lucky to make $10,000.00 your first year after training is complete, but thereafter your income will regularily increase. Freelancing

There are many opportunities to be a freelancer in whichever area you desire. Whether you interest lies in website development, administrative support, sales, or engineering you can bid on projects - for free. Freelance sites are basically databases of projects that individuals and companies wish to have completed. You search the database, select a project you can perform and place a "bid". A bid is the amount of money you will charge for the specific project. If you are the selected recipient of the project, you are expected to complete the project within pre-determined guidelines for your agreed-upon bid.
