If you are shopping around for free auto insurance quotes or aren't sure if you could be considered a "high risk", then there are a few things you need to keep in mind. It is absolutely essential that you shop around and get multiple quotes in order to get the best deal. If you're not sure if you're a high risk driver, I'll list some things that may flag you as risky to an insurance company. Some of the things that alert them are a result of your actions and some have little to do with your ability to drive safely. Things like having your drivers license suspended or revoked, having multiple accidents or violations, a DUI/DWI, gaps in your insurance coverage and/or having a prior claims history will all set off the red flags. I know from personal experience that these types of mistakes can have really pricey consequences.

However, like I was saying, there are factors that are out of your control that will also deem you as a high risk. If you are age 70 years old or older, or 20 years old or younger, you will probably be considered high risk. If you are a first time driver or student, you will most likely be considered the same. If you drive a souped up race car, some companies will even increase your risk so think twice before you buy certain types of cars if you want to save money! Another factor that places risk with your free auto insurance quotes is your location. If you live in a dangerous area with high crime or rate of accidents, you will be a higher risk for free auto insurance quotes provider.

Every driver has an assigned risk level determined by an auto insurance company. This is based upon their driving record and some of the other factors listed above. Usually, the higher the risk to insure you, the likely you may not even get a policy or will have to pay a higher premium is. Most providers do provide high risk auto insurance and if you shop around and ask about discounts, you may be able to get a reasonable free auto insurance quotes despite being a high risk driver. That being said, because there are so many variables that factor in to determine what your rates are, such as how 'strong' a particular insurer is within your geo graphical market (don't ask! this is an entire 'new can of worms'), you really do need to shop around for your free auto insurance quotes.  One insurer in a particular city may not be able to offer the lowest rates, where in a different city, that same auto insurance company is the cheapest. It does get complicated that's for sure. Let the tool ABOVE do the work and get the best quote...it's free!  Good Luck!
