When you stumble upon some image that interests you, do not save them to your computer right away. Especially be very careful of Christmas or any other screensavers. Make sure the website you are downloading from is authentic and do not show plenty of ads or pop ups. Never ever download an executable file (filename with a .exe extension) as those files may contain viruses or malicious adware. Downloading simple images in the JPG format (files with a .jpg extension) like the images on this hub is harmless.

Here is a little step by step tutorial that tells you how to download these free Christmas wallpapers or pictures and set the picture that interests you as your desktop background. There are instructions for both Windows and Mac Operating Systems.

PC Download Instructions:

1. Click on the image you like to download

2. It will open a new window with the high resolution picture

3. Right Click and select "Save Target As"

4. Save the picture as a .jpg file on your computer

5. Right-click on the image and choose "Set As Wallpaper" or "Set As Background."

 Download Instructions for MAC OS 9:

1. Control-click and select "Save this Image as" or "Download image to Disk". Select a location that you will remember and save the wallpaper image to your Desktop.  2. Go to Apple menu > Control Panel and select "Appearance."  3. Select the "Desktop" tab and select the "Place Picture..." button.  4. Browse to the location where you saved the picture and locate the wallpaper.  5. Click "Set Desktop" and you are done.    Alternatively you can just drag the image into the "Current Desktop Picture."

Instructions for MAC OS X:

1. Control-click and select "Save this Image as" or "Download image to Disk". Select a location that you will remember and save the wallpaper image to your Desktop. 2. Go to Apple menu > System Preferences > Personal section and select "Desktop."  3. On the pulldown menu called "Collection", go to "Choose Folder"  4. Browse to the location where you saved the picture and locate the wallpaper. Or just drag the image into the "Current Desktop Picture."
