The Cheetah Girls are based on the best selling series of young adult books of the same name; Cheetah Girls. These books are written by Ms. Deborah Gregory. As in other cases the popularity of the book feeds the interest in movies and other products and visa versa.

Thus the Cheetah Girls is also a Disney Channel original movie and TV Musical. Both were released in 2003. The main characters are Bubbles, Chuchie, Doe and Aqua. Bubbles was played in the first movie by Raven n Simone (of That's So Raven fame). She did not choose to continue with the group on other productions as she has her own show and singing career already.

In the Cheetah Girls original movie the four main characters become famous by being the first freshman to win the talent show at their own high school for the performing arts. The girls got a lot of luck by being seen by a well known producer; Jackal Johnson, at the talent show auditions.

Johnson works hard to make the girls stars but has many problems along the way. Despite problems by having a good team attitude, being positive thinkers the girls fight hard against all problems and their career moves on. This is the plot and allows sequels as long as interest holds. This type plot also worked well for the author of the original book series.
