Free Fun Online Surveys
70What are online surveys?
Online surveys are a way for companies and other groups to conduct market research. They usually send you an email when they have a new survey ready for you. You may get invited to complete loads of surveys or just one or two a month. It depends on whether you fit their target demographic.
Filling in online surveys can be a free and fun way to spend a few minutes spare time each day and you get rewarded for doing so. Some companies reward you by giving you free competition entries in return for your answers. Other online survey companies reward you with points which can be exchanged for cash or vouchers. I think that it's only really worth completing online surveys for this second group as you are assured of a tangible reward rather than the possibility of winning a competition.
What subjects do you get asked about?
Anything and everything. It's usually a company or companies wanting to conduct research into a new product or wanting to find out how they are perceived by the people who buy or use their goods or services. Not all surveys are commercial, some are conducted by government agencies, when these results are published it's nice to think that you at least had an opportunity to have your say.
Are online surveys worth doing?
Yes, if you like being asked your opinion about a large range of subjects and to receive a small reward for doing so. Some can be fun, some more than others depending on the subject matter.
Most memorable for me was a survey I completed on chocolate. At the end of the survey I was asked if I would be willing to test a bar. I agreed and received a bar of the new chocolate to try several days later. I then had to answer a few more questions in a short online survey about the chocolate, what did I think about the taste, would I buy it etc. I completed the survey and a couple of weeks later I received a cheque for £10.00 - totally unexpected.
More usually, in return for completing a survey I get some points which build up and can be converted into amazon vouchers, quite useful.
So where do I find these Online Surveys?
There are some websites that specialise in getting people to sign up for surveys, for which I guess that these websites they get paid. They are useful for finding out what online surveys are out there that you might want to sign up for.
You can also just use your favourite search engine to find online surveys. I could recommend some survey sites, but really it depends on where you live so that would have limited usefulness. I'm in the UK so I tend to stick mostly with UK based surveys.
Have fun doing online surveys!
It's not about filling in tons of them each day. Have fun and just do ones that interest you and get rewarded for your time and effort. Don't pay anybody anything to take a survey - they pay you! not you them. Seer clear of online surveys which reward you solely with competition entries, unless you don't have better things to do. Above all - have fun.
