Here is an example of a hypnotherapy script for a progressive relaxation. It is a very effective way to relax the body, and likewise, relax the mind.

The way I will be speaking and suggesting actions for you to try will help you to relax your body slowly and easily in a way to enter a deep and calm state of trance. Lets begin with thinking of the feet. All the way at the end of your extension begin to be aware of the muscles that surround the bones in your feet, even into your toes… and just try now as you breath to let go and relax those muscles, that’s good, feel the warmth and softness as the feeling begins to change just a little, and as they are letting go, move your awareness now into the muscles in your legs beneath and around your knees. Just feel them again, like your feet, and wonder how it feels to let it all go. As you breath in, breathe in relaxation, and when you breathe out, breath out all the tension that you feel in your body, and just allow it to loosen like rubber bands. Now, moving your attention again to the muscle groups of your thighs and hips and let them go too… feel the difference as you breath out the tension and really allow your body to sink into this calm feeling of relaxation… and its nice to know that you really can allow yourself to enter a more peaceful state for your body and mind. Now move the attention again, but this time into your abdomen and chest, it is important now to really feel and breath into these areas, and when you are exhaling just allow the body to do what feels right, letting go all the way of any tensions you might find. Slowly now, let yourself become more peacefully relaxed as you let the upper and lower muscles of your arms, and even all the way down to your fingertips… just let it go too, as you can move deeper now into a more relaxed state of mind… 


And finally I’d like you to consciously be aware of your neck and shoulders, just feel what its like as you softly pay attention, and breath into these areas and exhale everything you feel all the way out. And now, your facial muscles, even your jaws, tongue, and forehead, just get a feel for what you find and be aware of your whole body now and let all the tension you find, just let it go and wonder what its like to feel a complete peace that permeates all the way from head to toe, finding yourself in a deep, calm, and totally relaxed state of mind.
