First off, when I say free I mean no cost you you ever. Free means free when I say it. I consider no money out of your pocket or mine as free. When I say no money out of pocket I mean it is not one of those programs you can try for 30 days then the trail ends unless you pay for it. You know the kind they get you to fall in love with the program then a box pops up & says your trial is over you must pay to continue to use this program. By that time you love the program & have used it for certain things but it's not important to you you feel you must pay for it so then you just move on, that is so annoying! I am talking about the kind of program that is a great program you love to use but is also 100% free all the time. If that is your idea of free as well then you will love this free image editing program. I work with photos almost everyday so the most common task I have is resizing or rotating a picture. With that idea in mind I thought it would be a great idea to share one of my favorite programs with you.

This will be a sort of guide how to use the program to do a few basic things that will be useful for everyday use.

First of course is to download the free program:

 You can save your program under your program files & name it the program name:

Irfanview

Once you have your program installed let's look at some basic use of this great little free program. 

 When you open your Irfanview program the fir thing you see is an emty program because you do not have a picture open yet. The first thing to do is open a picture so here is how to open a picture in Irfanview.

 Click on the yellow folder symbol to open a picture in Irfanview

Locate your picture & click on the open button at the bottom

 First click on Image then click on Resize

Click on Image then click on Color Corrections...

I want my color darker so I will do that by changing the saturation

Now let's try to add a cool effect to our photo.

I want to add a paint effect first

 Last but certainly not least is one of my all time favorite things you can do with this program. I have a digital camera & when I take picture at the highest quality I have pictures that are huge in size. When I take the photos off my camera I have to re-size them all. Each of the hundreds of photos have to be re-sized smaller so I can use them. This program allows you to re-size all the files at one time. Yes, you can re-size a lot of photos at once with this program. That is what i will show you next is how to re-size photos in a folder.
