In order to see results from your muscle building efforts, it's important you put yourself on a well designed muscle building workout routine.

This is what will help ensure you're working the muscles correctly and applying enough stimulus to get results. If you aren't seeing results with your program, it may be because one of the following key factors are not present.

Proper Rest Between Sets

One thing that many individuals overlook with their program is making sure that they are using the right amount of rest between their sets. In some cases they will be taking up to 3-4 minutes in between a single set. This is going to be far too much to use because you really never need more than 1-2 minutes.

If you do, the chances are fairly high that you're just 'wasting' time and dragging the workout on.

Limit Of Intense Cardio

Next, avoid doing too much cardio with your muscle building workout routine. Some people think that they can limit the amount of body fat they gain by doing so, but if the truth is told, it's total calorie balance that determines fat gain so cardio is still not going to prevent fat gain.

What will is tailoring your calories back slightly if you are gaining too much body fat.

Ongoing Variety

Finally, the last thing that must be in place on an effective muscle building workout routine is ongoing variety. When you leave your workout program constant for a long period of time, the chances that the body starts to plateau are going to be a lot higher as well, therefore it's important that you're making sure to constantly switch things around so you can keep seeing results.

This includes aspects such as the exercises you are doing, the reps performed, the number of sets, and so on. Just change something - every few weeks is a good point to do so.
