"Dang it Myrtle! Look at that guy! It looks like he's got a telly-vision sit'in on his lap."

"Homer, whatchu been a drinkin?. That there is one of them laptops. Those things been around fer years - git with it!"

"No Myrtle, lookie, he's a watchin that Biggest Loser show."

"Well bust my britches Homer, you sure is right. If that ain't a telly-vision then I'm a polecat stuck in a pig trough!

"Hey Myrtle, maybe we don't need one of them there gover'ment boxes for our rabbit ears! Let's just get us a laptop -- we could put two or three on your lap."

Whack!!  "Homer, get up and get me a laptop!"

Yes, Homer and Myrtle are right. The boundary between our computers and our TV's continues to blur. It won't be long before these technologies forever merge into one single "media display unit." - MDU, or "entertainment viewing source" - EVS, or "techno idiot box" - TIB, or some such anagram. But even now, (if you don't know already), you can view some classic and current TV shows as well as classic and current movies for free right off the good old Internet.

I discovered this myself not too long ago and was really thrilled. Do you remember The Dick Van Dyke Show? How about The Bob Newhart Show, or Night Gallery, or The Twilight Zone? I even watched Season Four of "LOST" - which I missed last spring.

There are also free movies, (granted, not the greatest screen gems around), but full length features none-the-less. We kicked cable out of our home about 10 years ago, so all we have are TV's with rabbit ears, sort of Retro. But the fact that you can watch your program when you want to and the fact that it's FREE is really amazing. Twenty years ago who would have thought you could sit on your front porch with a small laptop computer, (on your lap), and watch The Rockford Files or I Dream of Jeannie almost commercial free?
