Watch Free TV online
82
There are a lot of alternatives to cable or satellite TV today with the advent of the Internet, and not all of them cost money or require you to register for viewing. So, instead of browsing through the channels with your remote, you could be browsing through the free online TV providers on your computer and watch TV Online.
Here is a list a few of the best sites you can watch free TV online:
- YouTube - You all know this one. YouTube is a great way to catch up on TV shows that you might have missed or find obscure clips and outtakes from your favorites.
- Joost - From the authors of Skype. Still in beta, but it delivers on all fronts: P2P system for delivering content; solid amounts of good content, great GUI, almost glitch-free work, quality video. One of the features of Joost that willl be a big hit if it takes off, is the community features. They offer chat, program ratings and instant messaging which can be cool if your friends are on joost. The Joost online video service is still in Beta and you need to get an invitation from a friend to be able to join.
- Babelgum - Babelgum is a lot like Joost - it offers P2P-based content delivery, and free but ad-supported content. The service is in open beta, and everyone is free to try it out, although the amount of daily downloads is limited. Channels include news, music, documentaries, sports, animation, and others.
- Veoh - Veoh is similar to youtube but allows you to upload longer format content and download any of their content. One of the cool things about Veoh is their downloadable player that acts like a VCR - you can save movies to it for later viewing. It has a lot of movies as well as TV episodes to choose from.
- NGTV - NGTV, which is short for No Good TV, is similar to what kids see on TV everyday: lots of music & entertainment, lots of foul language, and long, long intros for every episode.
- EpisodeNetwork - Episode network is a large link list, pointing to videos around the web. They’re not hosting any of the videos on the site and since the material includes blockbusters and entire TV series, downloading might be just a tad illegal.
- Dailymotion - Dailymotion is one of the biggest video sharing sites around. It's as old as YouTube, and nearly as successful. Unlike YouTube, it’s still not sued by every media powerhouse under the sun, so you can still find a lot of good stuff there.
- Google Video - Google Video is a good place to find free online TV and although Google has bought YouTube and Google Video is slowly fading out of the picture, it’s still a very large video sharing site with tons of content.
- ABC - Out of all the online offerings from the major networks, ABC is probably the most advanced. ABC offers pretty much all of their prime time shows online, free for your viewing pleasures (Lost, Desperate Houswives, Alias). The online shows are very sparse with advertising and you always know when the ads are coming. Will work only for visitors from the United States.
- BlinkX - BlinkX is a video/audio search engine which claims to have indexed over 12 million hours of video.
- NBC - Just like with ABC.com, they show their programs just after there original airing and the advertising is clearly marked. The quality of their player is great and almost never fails. In additions to the regular shows, they usually have extra content as well. If you’re a fan of Heroes, The Office or My Name is Earl, then NBC.com is a must.
- ChannelChooser - ChannelChooser is a windows media player based video portal offering a large selection of TV channels. Simple layout and interface.
- Lonely Planet - Lonely Planet content comes from Lonely Planet TV and independent travelers. Lonelyplanet.tv is a great place to research or just be entertained.
- Freetube - Freetube is one of those sites that keep it simple: no downloads, no subscriptions: only lots of neatly categorized shows.
- Rooftopcomedy - Rooftopcomedy.com is a comedy video site. It’s not like youtube where anyone can submit there own video or something that was found on the web. They currently have comedy clips from over 1,200 comedians. Check it out, they have some funny stuff.
- PeekVid - PeekVid is a great free online TV repository with hundreds of free shows archived for instant watching. Over 700 episodes of popular shows such as 24, Buffy, Desperate Housewives, Family Guy. Shows can be downloaded.
- Guba - Guba is a combination of video sharing and video rental, which means you’ll have to pay for some of the content. Nevertheless, there’s a lot of good stuff to be found in the free part of the site.
- Zattoo - A p2p-based online television with a downloadable client focused on European (over 50) channels.
- Streamick - A collection of links to various streams, there is some good content to be found here.
- TV Links - A nicely organized collection of links to episodes to popular TV shows.
- Free Movies Cinema - A carefully handpicked selection of rare and interesting movies collected from various online sources.
- Choose and watch - Long lists of categorized streaming content that opens in a Windows Media Player. They index over 300 channels.
- Streaming TV Episodes - ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX free TV episodes in one place. It’s not much, but it’ll save you some time.
Enjoy!

Hey Gregorious, great hub! I just wrote a hub about web television, check it out: http://hubpages.com/hub/Webisodes---the-Future-of-
My favorite web series is called My Two Fans. Check it out at mytwofans.com and let me know what you think!
Nice Hub!
Great resource for free Internet media to watch on a computer. Hulu.com definitely should be included but then again, there are many popular Internet media sites out there that also cater to sports, adult entertainment, etc.
I found when using a legal top software package, it helps streamline, organize and deliver everything right to my computer which saves me valuable time and effort, including not having to store and organize 100s of free media sites myself.
