How can you claim your lost money? Locate the office or website of your state's Treasure office, and then look for the area of their unclaimed property program. Use the search box to scan for money in your name. Use any form of your name you have ever used. If you find money, fill out an official claim form and submit it. That is all you need to do. Be sure you keep information in a safe place for all accounts, deposits, or stocks and mutual funds you have. Make someone you trust aware of this record in case you are unable to act or unfortunately die. Cash all checks promptly, even those little ones.
