Freeware a solution for most of your problems

Everyone has a conscious dilemma regarding software, either private or corporate. It's obvious that to produce a software requires lots of resources which have high costs.

Another issue which is never discussed is, how much of the software that is actually bought and paid for is used to it's full capacity ... from my experience, I've bought frequently software based on what my technical team has suggested. Although many times, I feel I don't get enough out of the software to justify it's costs.

Nowadays a trend in the software business, is the new version, constant upgrades to increase revenues, but basically for the end user little important changes are actually worth the cost. Most users look at upgrades as a graphics enhancement of the previous software. I'm speaking of software in general, especially business related software, this market nich is probably the most lucrative for software developers and therefore the constantly use change as marketing strategies to increase sales and revenue.

However you may find excellent software for free on the internet, most of it opensource. I will give you some good examples that will surely help you without great investment.

Openoffice

Well it's time for Microsoft to watch out, I have seen several software trying to compete with Microsoft Office in the last few years, but I figure Openoffice is just as good. Actually totally compatible and free.

One good thing about free software ... is it's useful to have and cheap to buy .... When you buy your Microsoft Office you'll have to choose which package is good for you, you pick your package according to your needs ... We are human, and therefore I'll decide to have more than I really need, for example, I use Excel on a daily basis, Word once or twice a week, Powerpoint, 3 or 4 times a year... So the most natural thing for me is to buy all 3, but is that logic, I'll be paying for a powerpoint I use 3 times a year, and every year or so a new version of the software comes out. How much will each powerpoint file cost me?

I strongly recommend freeware when it's compatable and useful.

Openproj

Many people use MS Project on a daily basis, if you think this software can help you with a current project, but it's cost is out of your league ... I have a good freeware solution for you. Similar to MS Project and helpful for your project management duties...

Office 2007

Still have an old version of your Office, enjoy your present graphics, think the new version is too complicated to be useful, or just the cost is out of your league... I can help ... try this official compatible software ... this way your friends and colleagues can send you their files in Office 2007 format without troubles.
