If your computer is running much more slowly than when you first bought it and you are experiencing crashes and pop ups there is a good chance that your system is infected with a virus, spyware, adware, or malware. Some of these malicious programs are capable of recording your user names and passwords as well as credit card numbers and other personal information. In the event that your computer is infected don't panic. I'm going to tell you how to clean your system using great free software. I have never bought any anti virus programs and I'm happy to say that my computer runs just as good as the day I pulled it out of the box.

Step #1 -- Go to www.download.com

Download.com is a great and safe place to download software without worry of viruses or other malicious software. In the search bar type "Super Antispyware" and hit enter. After the page loads scroll down to the link that says "download now" that has a small square green button directly to the left of it. Save the file to your computer in whatever desired location that you feel comfortable with that can easily be located. Open the file and begin the setup process. After you install the software go ahead and run it. I highly recommend that you first update the software by clicking the button on the main menu and then performing a complete scan on your computer. Depending on the speed of your computer and how bad the infection is the scan can take quite some time. After the scan is complete remove all the infections. This scan alone should significantly reduce the problems you are having but it doesn't quite cover everything by itself.

Step #2 -- Go back to www.download.com

After returning to download.com type "Malware Bytes" in the search bar and hit enter. Once again after the page loads scroll down and click "download now" and save the file to your computer. After the download is complete run the file and begin the setup process. After the setup is complete run the program, click the update tab and then check for the latest updates to ensure the best possible scan for your computer. Go back to the scanner tab and perform a full system scan. After the scan is complete remove all the bad objects and you'll be well on your way to a completely clean pc.

Step #3 -- Download Combofix from this link http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe

WARNING! It is imperative that if you have any anti virus programs running to either disable them or uninstall them as combo fix may cause damage to your machine if they are running. At the last step of this tutorial I will tell you where you can get a great free anti virus program that works better than most any program you can buy so if you want you can uninstall your anti virus program now and restart your computer to ensure that combo fix can run unimpaired.

Execute the Combo Fix file and being running it on your system. After going through several stages of cleaning, any stingy nasty viruses that were still holding on that the other programs couldn't get to should now be removed.

Step #4 -- Go back to www.download.com

Type in the search bar "Spybot Search and Destroy" and press enter. Scroll down and click download now and save the file to your computer. Run the file and go through setup process. After Installing Spybot go ahead and update it and begin a full system scan. After scanning your entire computer and removing any malicious files that may be left behind click on the immunize button to help protect your computer from any future infections.

Step #5 -- Go back to www.download.com again... This is the last time though honestly..

Type in the search bar "AVG Antivirus" and press enter. Scroll down to the AVG Antivirus free edition and click on the download now link. After saving the file to your computer go ahead and run the file and go through the setup process. If you have followed all the steps correctly and AVG is now running on your computer you should now have a completely clean pc with a great anti virus program and you didn't even have to pay a dime.
