Free Web Site Resources

This is not Mike Dillard's Building on a Budget!

In today's online attraction marketing world, whenever anyone mentions "building on a budget" most people instantly think of Mike Dillard's "Building on a Budget" e-book. Even though Mike Dillard's "Building on a Budget" includes discussion about and access to different websites that assist in building a list,  he does not explain how to create a web site. This Hub introduces three resources to help the "non-techie" types build a simple web page and web site for Free. Now to me, that is really how you "build on a budget".

I know that even the thought of building a web site for any reason usually sends chills up and down the spines of many home or small business owners. None the less, having a web site can greatly enhance your web presence and definitely help capture some basic contact information from prospective customers. Most of us are quite aware of that fact.

So why do we experience the sudden rush of fear or at least anxiety at the thought of developing even a simple site?

Two factors usually reign supreme is striking those emotions:

  1. The perception of prohibitive costs since many of us feel we don’t even know where to start and would have to hire a web designer and hosting the site; and/or
  2. Who knows anything about the programming behind web pages (you know, all that HTML and CSS stuff).

Fortunately, there are still a number of options available to any small business owner with at least a basic understanding of using personal computers for word processing, maintaining spreadsheets, or preparing digital presentations to build and host a low-cost or even free website.

Most of the companies offering free website construction/hosting platforms include a web-based, WYSIWYG development environment to first build your site. (Please note that WYSIWYG stands for "what you see is what you get".)

Next they provide a hosting service with no charge. In order to recover the cost, each provider usually has a small advertising link at the bottom of the page and a URL that is a sub-domain to their main domain.

You can take advantage a low-cost option where you buy your own domain name through them and they host the site without their advertisement. This option gives you a personalized domain name adding a greater sense of professionalism to your site.

Thus far, I have been introduced to three different service providers that have similar features with both the WYSIWIG development editors and hosting options. These include:

  1. BlinkWeb;
  2. Synthasite; &
  3. Weebly.

Each WYSIWYG development editor includes the ability to add a wide variety of design elements such as text paragraphs; text with or without title or graphics; titles alone; pictures alone; video; single or two column layouts, custom HTML (great for adding auto-responder capture widget code), etc.

All three of the sites also include online support in the form of how-to document files or introductory videos to assist in maneuvering your way around their editors as well as the rest of their sites.

So even if these sites have nothing to do with Mike Dillard's "Building on a Budget", I find they are great resources for developing lead capture (squeeze) pages; an important tool for any online marketer.

The best part, of course, is that you can create you website and still build on a budget with the lowest possible cost .... it's almost FREE! Time is money afterall ....

Enjoy!
