How To Get A Free Yearly Credit Report

If you want to get a free yearly credit report there is only one site you need to go to - annualcreditreport.com - which is not the one you would first think of. You've seen all the funny or obnoxious commercials (depending on how many times you've seen them) for free credit report dot com and while they say it is free if you listen closely you will hear real quickly "...offer applies with enrollment with Triple Advantage..."

This is how they pay for all those national advertising campaigns. You get the free report and you get signed up for a free trial of credit monitoring. I don't have a problem with that. If I can use the service then I'm ok with paying the monthly fee.

Depending on who you talk to, they may say this service is a good idea or they will say you can do it yourself.

(Sarcasm) Yes, I have time to check my report and score every day and monitor any possible threats or errors!

There's a lot of things we can do ourselves but we choose to pay for.

So if you are worried about monitoring your credit then get the service, if not, don't.

How To Get A Free Yearly Credit Score

So now you know how to get a yearly credit report, but what about if you want to know what your credit score is? What is the way to get your yearly credit score?

If you go to the government's credit service above, you can buy a copy of your scores from the 3 agencies when you get your credit report. They do not offer your credit scores free.

Those you have to pay for. It does not cost a lot but you get a lot of value.

And the same thing applies. You have to sign up for a free trial of credit monitoring before you can see your credit scores instantly. The trials are usually 7 to 30 days long so you have plenty of time to see your score and get the information you need.

Then if you decide you don't need the monitoring you can cancel it. If not, you will be charged a low monthly fee of around $13 to $15 a month. And you have the piece of mind knowing that someone is keeping an out for you and your credit.
