Free Credit Rating Checks
Free credit checking websites now make it possible for you to keep on top of your latest credit scores and plan well in advance. There are official websites that you can access to get information about your credit history, once every year.
But is once a year enough? Consider this – your credit scores are a result of your credit history. The history is made up of data from various creditors. This data is received on a monthly basis though each creditor does it at a different point of time within the month. Simply put, one creditor might choose to send your credit details in at the start of every month; a second might do so mid-month while a third might choose to send it in just before the month ends. Does that really matter? Yes, it certainly does!
For starters, it means your credit scores are constantly changing to correctly represent this in-coming procession of information. And wouldn’t you like to know about that constantly, or at least more often than once a year? Also, with so much of information coming in, it’s quite possible for mistakes to be made. And if you’re not checking the transaction history, you’ll never know about these mistakes. Note that it’s possible for you to dispute discrepancies and have them rectified but you need to notice them in the first place to be able to do so.
What you might not realize though is that the free credit rating checks available online only reflect your credit scores and don’t give you access to a proper and detailed credit rating report. Credit scores can tell you whether or not you need to start looking at ways in which to improve your rating and that is of course helpful. So, free credit checking definitely is useful but it doesn’t allow you to do all the things mentioned above – take a look at the summary, see what your debt amounts to both in totality and individually and most important of all to check for mistakes.
Understandably, no one wants to shell out money ever so often to get a credit rating report, though doing that at least a couple of times a year is advisable. However, here’s one way you can get a free credit report three times a year.
Now, as you know, your annual free credit rating report can be got from all or any one of the following three national credit rating companies – TransUnion, Experian and Equifax at the centralized website we mentioned at the start. Well, when you enter you details to get your credit report, you have the option of choosing any one of the three. If you make sure to choose them one at a time, you can use each of the three companies once with a gap of four months to generate three reports for you within the same annual year. What do you think of that? Three times a year is any day better than just once annually.
