Free - Dog and Cat Food
76Warning! Please read the labels carefully.
What ever brand of pet food you choose to feed to your cat or dog make sure the food does NOT included Corn, Wheat, and Soy. These three grains are killers.
Our cats and dogs were dying during the historic Pet Food Recall in 2007. The 2007 Pet Food recalls began in March and ended in November. Why is it our pets are still becoming ill, suffering such things as ear infections, fever, kidney swelling, dry skin, "hot spots", blindness, liver swelling, growths on their bodies, heart conditions, and still dying?
The pet food producers are getting away with using cheap, low quality ingredients. The FDA calls a number of the ingredients used in pet food as "poisonous" and not fit for human consumption.
Please read the pet food labels and reviews.

I was wondering if anyone knows if the Walmart brand dog food, Maximum nutrition is safe. It has me concerned because its made by the Walmart company or Walmart subsidarys. Any information would be great. Thanks.
Purina's website says the only item they are recalling is Mighty Dog, but does this mean that they will expand it? I feed my cat Friskies and most of their products contain wheat gluten which is what they're saying is the cause of the problem. Guess I'll stick to the loaf stuff.
I would caution against any wheat or corn gluten. Bad stuff for your pet, anyway!

Did anyone notice that the IMPROVE product offered as a Free Sample on this site contains Ethoxyquin? That's not good. Think I'll pass on that offer.
We feed our large (70+ lbs) mixed breed dogs the Maximum Nutrition brand. There is no wheat gluten listed in the ingredients. Of course, that doesn't mean they haven't used wheat gluten, or that they haven't used a different name for that ingredient. If there is truth in labeling, the Maximum Nutrition has real meat as the first (therefore most) ingredient. Our dogs are healthy, but I am now researching where the Wal*Mart brand gets their ingredients from. I almost ready to make my own food now.
I have used Purina dog food for almost 14 years with my 2 exceptionally healthy Scotties. I mix 3/4 cup of Dog Chow w 1/4 cup Pedigree chopped chicken ea. day. That's all they have ever eaten and they are amazing. No one believes they will be 14 on May 24. I was scared to look at the recall list for fear Purina products would be on it. What a releif when I scanned the list and did not find your product on it.
is your goodlife recipe ok for puppies
Nestle makes purina products. Neslte has some products on the recall list.
I use Life's abundance religiously, it is the food that Sue Michaud is talking about. It is so amazing. My dog and cats are so healthy, and they love the little heart shaped treats, only my dog will eat the vitamins, but she seems way healthy! I only use all natural products for my pets, you should go and buy Life's abundance and then go to onlynaturalpetsupplies.com and buy everything else your pets need! It's all healthy and safe and it all works so well!!!!! Going healthy-natural is so easy with these two websites!

It's not made by Wal-mart, and it's not a Puina product. I wish I did know who made it, the ingredients are premium. I have sitting in front of me ingredients from a bag of Royal Canin Pro and Maximum Adult Lamb and Rice. The first three ingred. in Royal Canin are Chicken By Product Meal, Corn and brewers rice. First three in Max are Lamb, Chicken meal, ground WHOLE GRAIN sorgum. Hmm.....Max has no fillers, just veggies and vitamins. RC has veggies way down the list, vitamins and right up there lists rice hulls.
I'd say thats a no-brainer!

Jen,
I agree with Maxximum is a better product. I've been feeding it to my dog for a while now. Here's the review http://hubpages.com/hub/Maxximum-Dog-Food-Review
Susan
I've been using the Maximum Nutrition for 3 years now. NO problems at all. Besides, it has all the right ingredients real meat at top of the list and I can afford it! I check out the top brands at walmart for a way high price and they still have corn at the top of thier list of ingredients. Corn is hard to digest. I'm sticking to Maximum Nutrition. I just wish Walmart would carry more of it. Sometimes they are out when I go in.
Melinda,
I've been using Maxximum for a while now, too. Wal-Mart is the only place I have found it. I usually make my pet food but use the Maxximum in a pinch. Fits my pocket book and seems to be pretty good food.
Susan
where can i buy maxximun besides walmart
Jessica,
Maxxiumum is packaged for Wal-Mart. No other sources are available.
Susan
I have been using Maxximum Nutrition for almost a year & it works well for me. Price wise & ingredients too. Anyone who says just because Walmart sells it, it can't be good hasn't compared the labels & ingredients.
Cheryl,
I've been using Maxximum for my pets when I don't cook for them. Not bad stuff. It's not the greatest of products but is a far cry above what the more expensive premium brands have to offer.
Susan
I have a Bichon Frise and a white lab- since Walmart came out with ''Maximum''
(blue bag) my dogs won't eat anything else- and when they try they throw up everywhere! I am so upset because Walmaet doesnot keep their product on their shelves - I cannot find it anywhere else to buy-and my babies are suffering. i wish I wouldn't have given to them at all- because Walmart hardly ever has it- that makes me so mad!
Sandy
Thank you for sharing this information
Well, I love freebies or even money off like the next person - maybe more..I don't want to be party crasher here. And I'm only telling everyone because I started getting involved more with what we were feeding our furry family members once the initial recall was announced. (It was quite startling to see how flagrant the pet food industry is towards labeling and what goes into the "Premium" & "Ultra" foods we're feeding our little/big buddies. We also adopted our first rescue puppy, so we were hitting on new territory and wanted to make sure that he was given the best; best home life, most loved as well as, the best nutritionally. I can get coupons as well, if anyone wants some for certain brands. (It's usually Purina, Iam's and along those lines and the savings are typically about $5.00 off a bag). I'll always pass any savings along that I can get to others because if I'm not going to use them, why shouldn't someone else save the cash? The only thing is, and I want to put this out there to EVERYONE; is that the FOOD RECALL IS STILL ON & HAS ONLY SPREAD TO OTHER COMPANIES. If you really want to be sure that the food you're feeding your pet is safe; you're best to either go with a company that produces their products with no grains or, consider a raw diet. Or, even check to see how many products you can't pronounce on the ingredients label. (Would you feel okay eating it, especially knowing that there's still a recall on? And keep in mind, the FDA DOES NOT have to label the ingredients in order of greatest to least - so do you think they are? If your animals' food has grains in it - you can be sure that the actual meat component of it is probably about 5-10% and the rest is all fillers. And even at that low percentage, the "meat" is not what you really want your furry family members to be eating. *Anything with meal after it - is the equivalent of hotdogs for humans but, worse. And dogs as well as, cats both need MEAT - they're carnivores.
Just food for thought..
Check the recall list again..it keeps growing - they just don't want to keep advertising the problems. (Also, keep in mind that many of those larger technical words that most don't know - are not any better than the rice/corn glutens, they may even be a form of). Keep them all safe, loved and healthy for a long time to come!
I agree with most of what euhlala is saying except for the statement that anything with "meal" after it is by products. By products are by products, but meal, for example, chicken meal is real chicken meat with the moisture removed making it more rich in protein. "Meal" after the meat is a good thing, however, by products could be beaks, feet, feathers or who knows whatelse.
