Free Traffic Exchanges: Are They Worth The Effort?

When deciding upon an internet business of some sort I never really knew much about traffic exchange programs, I almost overlooked them as a promotional tool, I thought by what appeared quite a popular opinion in various forums and such that they were just for the guys at the top, who owned them earning traffic credits for their programs, while this is most likely true, I have found something in the powerful use of these types of programs.

But there is a special way of using these types of programs to your advantage and that means not as a spammy way of getting other people to view your pages, because that isn't really a targeted way of using these, instead you need to be a little bit cleverer than the average traffic exchange user and you need to find the benefits of using one to tell others how you can get people to sign up to your referral sites.

You can do this in related forums that are for traffic exchange users and owners to exchange links and just generate discussions, by leaving your links, they act as breadcrumbs for others to look and plus there are usually loads of members of these traffic exchanges and so through the forums you may gather intelligence if you will of what they are allabout or you may find out that one of their hobbies fit a promotional link you have on another traffic exchange.

The key with these types of programs is to network with other members, chat and find out information, extract and put to use that information and create more referral sign ups for whatever you have.

A good way of placing a web link into a rotating traffic program is to use a sign up page which is often called an opt in or squeeze page, these are the preferred route of pro TE users, because they are short and to the point of whatever they benefit the member you want to sign up.

There are of course the draw backs of using these almost outdated forms of promotion, as I said above, they are untargeted promotions and you rack up the traffic credits by having to surf and this is quite tedious and also some pages loaded into the system may have intrusive pop ups that could download unwanted spyware on your computer, so if you do decide to go the TE path, it is best to try and find a clean TE site that does not allow pop ups and other adware practices.

Your affiliate offers and other promotional pages like your sign up pages and call to action pages really need to be optimized away from the TE sites so as draw in search engine traffic also as you may want to combine the efforts of search engine traffic and also a good traffic surf.

I would recommend doing traffic exchanges, only if you are prepared to put in the effort and build your TE network to gather referrals and new members and of course any sales you can squeeze out of them.

Just be careful when you use these programs, as traffic generation is an area that there are more than one way to bring in traffic to your sites, like article marketing, search engine traffic, image traffic and your own affiliate program.
