Not surprisingly people want a guarantee that a spell is going to work.
They often expect that it is this powerful thing outside of themselves and that with a blink of their eyes or twitch of their nose it will happen.
The essential ingredient of any spell is actually the spell caster. Not unlike with quantum physics (just to get all high brow on you :-) ) where the person conducting the experiment affects the end results.

Here's another juicy bit - it's also important that you have this certainty and you also let it go - not the certainty - just the desire.
As if we hold onto something invariably we squeeze the life from it, or it slips through our fingers.
Whereas if we know with absolute faith that what we wish for will happen, we can then let it go with trust that it will indeed transpire.

Hi Amber - we have a policy of only interacting with those over 18 - unless they have written parental permission. Because we respect the right of parents to choose what their children will and wont be exposed to. I am a person that is very intersted in witchcraft and witches. This is very cool. I've been intersted sence i was 12 and i am now 19. I've never tryed to do it. True witchcraft only comes from an open hearted, loving space. Real witches practice magick with a positive intent. Wicca (and you can be a witch and not be wiccan and vica versa) has a principal of "and harm ye none" which witches also advocated.
A "dark witch" is something someone with ill intent might call themselves - however this is not recognized within the true witch community.

To begin with witchcraft is NEVER to be used to manipulate the free will of another person. This will invoke the Rule of Three and you will end up creating three times as horrible a situation for yourself if you were to go ahead.
Witchcraft is about consciously creating for yourself.
Happiness though is something that only you can determine - your happiness is your responsibility and not someone else's.
And you have every right to feel what you are feeling - the thing is for YOU to do something for YOURSELF about it, rather than expecting other people to change so that you feel more happy.
If you are not happy with your fiance it begs the question of why you are with him? The people we hang out with reflect how we view ourselves.
If he is abusing his body with alcohol and is nebative in behaviors - that is only a reflection of what you are doing to yourself - you are abusing your spirit and soul to be in a situation you don't like that is negative for you.
I am not suggesting you automatically leave.
It is about being prepared to set some firm boundaries of what is important to you and to be prepared to now accept any less than that.
What that means is firmly, in an even tone (you do not get all emotional at him)you say what is right and not right for you.
You don't threaten to leave. You just let him know what is important to you - that its a deal breaker.
You then ask him directly whether he's prepared to respect those boundaries.
And if he says no - why would you be with someone who does not support what is important to you?
Now if that 'important to you' compromises him in some way - that IS his prerogative.
Like you could say 'its important to me that you bow when I walk in the door' (I am being silly here :-) ) - and he has a right to say no to that.
Equally if he says its important to him to drink a lot - you have a right to say no to that.
It is about setting your own standards for yourself in life and being prepared to live to them.
He is only a reflection of your standards at the moment - and given you are not happy - it suggests you are not happy with your own standards.
There is a lot here - I hope that gives you some food for thought.

HI Jolene,
One of the laws of witchcraft (universal law as well) is the Law of Value exchange. Where we receive something, and give something in return - and this is agreed by both parties.
So in the case of witchcraft, you may see a branch on a tree and think it would make a perfect wand. So you ask the trees permission to use it, and you give it 'payment' by say watering the tree.
It is important to understand this law of value exchange - as not doing so is why so many people have issues around money. They might not be valuing their own self and what they offer (and being comfortable with putting a price on it) or they may think that everything should come to them for nothing - meaning that don't put a value on it.
I am offering you this philosophy, as I think it is imperative to be aware of this and start to live to this yourself.
And as part of that, understand that money is only a form of energy - it is part of the process of value exchange.
So for you yourself - it would be about valuing what you do - what you offer, and being comfortable with seeking for remuneration of that. Not hoping, of praying for it - actually deciding you know your value and so therefore you will attract income that reflects that value.
So my suggestion is first and foremost to do some work around your beliefs and relationship with money. ALso know that money is in abundance, it's not scarce. And that you too can have it, are entitled to it, as much as anyone else, when you understand and adopt the law of value exchange.
Also with witchcraft - as I suggested there is always an investment - maybe time, maybe money, maybe both.
And it is worthwhile to look at what you can do now for very little. So maybe go online and look for free spells (I offer them, and I also offer a course as well which does cost money). Maybe look to Ebay or Amazon for cheap second hand text books on witchcraft - know it is not about reading one, and that is it.
And without selling you on the benefits of my course, I will refer to something High Priestess teaches - is there is always a way to do spell work for very little - working with nature (remembering to leave a libation/payment).

Hi Chad - please read above about the law of value exchange - which explains why you will see a $ value often attached to spells or teachings.
Money is nothing more than a form of energy which is used as part of that law of value exchange/offering libations.
It is an important lesson and understanding regards real witchcraft - for those genuinely interested in learning it.

What you describe does not really fall under the realm of witchcraft. What I suggest you do is look into paranormal phenomenon and do a Google search on that.
Witchcraft is about working with the energies of the universe to consciously create. It is about being in balance and in tune with those energies. So the elements tend to work in sync and harmony with each other and ourselves. And we may consciously call on an element to be heightened, and it is done so in a controlled and positive manner.

Feeling love can be such a powerful emotion. When you truly love someone, interestingly you don't require anything back from them. You don't in fact need them to love you back. (of course its wonderful when they do :-) ).
The question you ask is a great question! It is indeed against the rules or laws of The Craft (Witchcraft, Wicca and whatever other formal of magickal practitioning you undertake) to spell cast against another's free will - which means make them feel, do or be a certain way (the way you desire).
And if anyone goes against that - they invoke the wrath of the Rule of Three - meaning you will attract back to you something 3 times in magnitude of your wrong doing.
To find out how someone feels is a simple task - and one that may feel bigger than a mountain.
In this instance, I would suggest there is a simple method open to you, that is not about casting a spell - but can be just as magickal. And that is that you ask them to spend some time with you. So if a date is too much, just suggest something more relaxed, like having a coffee (I am not sure of your age - so maybe hanging out somewhere is more appropriate?).
And then let them know that you like them as a person and leave it at that. They will then let you know how they feel by their response. They may not be as far advanced as you - but open to the idea of getting to know you further.

Here's an important piece of information for you to be aware of. If someone is waiting to see for themselves if magic is 'real' - their focus tends to be on that it may not be.
The whole foundation of spell work, and where a witch is powerful (or spellcaster, depending on how you want to view yourself :-) ) is with her/his ability to have faith and certainty that the spell they cast will work.
It is as simple and as 'difficult' as that. As the biggest hurdle is always what is going on in the spell casters mind - and where their focus is.
If its not aligned to what they say they want - they'll instead receive what they focused on - which might be more of the same of the undesirable situation.
AND when they do get the focus aligned - results are wonderful and often happen very quickly for the spell caster.

We ALL have gifts. It is just that most of us do not 'switch them on'. The are indeed blessings. And it is important for you to know that the principal of Witchcraft, or more psychic phenomenon which you may be referring to - is to work with them from a place of love and respect.
The principal of The Craft is based on like attracts like. So if you focus on the negative aspects of your gifts - you will then experience exactly that.
If you believe you are cursed - you will attract situations/signs to validate that.
The key for you is to work on coming from a place of love, trust and faith and to work with your gifts - giving these gifts as well as yourself these things.
We all have the ability to consciously create. The thing is that we often do not realize our focus unconsciously is on the negative, what we don't want, what we fear - and so we create that instead. As what you focus on, think, feel, do - you attract back in like.
So consciously use your powers in a positive, loving way :-)

Hi! Ever since hearing about the Salem witch trials in my Anthropology class, my thoughts about what is real have been so skeptical. Also, I've taken a Yoga class and I notice that the medidation involved is quite similar where you control your breathing and the ultimately helps to clear the mind. The energy that I feel is like a euphoric high. I have to admit ever since taking that class, I've been more focused on aspects of life. Well enough about that, I know medidating in witchcraft is somehow similar to that of Yoga, so personally, as a person having experience, have you ever broken the rule of three? Also, does the commercialization of Halloween as well as the mocking of dressing up like witches ever bother you?(that was a weird question and I know if someone was mocking me I would feel bothered, so I'm going to go with yes!) Also, Last, do you know of any celebrities to date that are witches(you don't have to say who, could you maybe give me an estimate? I'm very intriguied by this site and if you could write back soon I would appreciate it!

In answer to your questions:
a) With the first one - to incur the wrath of the 'rule of three' you would have cast a spell that contravenes another's free will. Someone's free will is to be respected and revered, as is our own. So the answer is a very clear no. True white witchcraft and white witches would never negate the rule. And the tenets of Wicca & Witchcraft (remember they are different. yet complimentary entities) is to 'an harm ye none'.
b) Witches have a sense of humor, and are inherently grounded. To take offense at people's enjoyment of how they choose to celebrate something like Halloween (Samhain) really begs the question back to the person feeling 'offended' - as that suggests need on their behalf to be validate, to be right, to have control. All things that our community do not advocate. We have a live and let live approach - again free will - we all have the right to act and choose as we wish - and the key is to not knowingly harm another when you do so.
c) If I did, I wouldn't share it - again discretion is fundamental for those who practice the craft.

There are spells that you can cast to reverse any hex put onto you.
What has also proven to be the most powerful response is simply not to believe that such a spell has power over you.
That might sound simplistic - and in fact it is immensely powerful. You see 'negativity' and 'black magic' can only reach us if we receive it - meaning that we fear it, we believe it has the power to affect us and so forth.
So you need to draw on your own inner power and focus on the good within you and within your world. And choose to believe that no negativity can harm you - because your focus is on the light.
It is like - if someone does not have an audience, they tend to not put on a show. Same too with negative spell work - if you do not receive it - it can not go anywhere.

You only cast a love spell to bring love into your life. You do not cast a love spell to make a specific person love you - as then you are going against the right of another's free will and will incur the wrath of the Rule of Three - which will mean you will experience something 3 times in magnitude of your wrong doing.

What as witches we are not to do is divine that to be so - because of respect for the other person's free will, and the law of threefold.So by all means cast a spell asking for love to come to you and imagine your former partner. I do not have a recommendation for a free wish spell. I offer three free spells when you register for my mailing list. It does not include a wish spell.
One of the first important listens of magickal practitioning is understanding and adhering to the Law of Value Exchange.
Many come towards witchcraft and expect everything for nothing, and get angry and suggest it's not real, or someone is a fake etc.
This tells me that they have not studied the craft. As yes indeed it is possible to find free spells.
And with the Law of Value Exchange - you give something in return for what you have received in equal value.
For example- you are looking for a wand, and see a beautifully shaped twig from a tree. You don't just then take that twig - as it is part of the tree.
Instead you ask the tree if you may use it and keep it as yours. And in return you offer it a libation - it may be water, it may be a protective fence...
Essentially it is the Law of Value exchange in process - you exchange between each other something that both parties agree is of equal value.
So even if you are flat broke, and you are wanting assistance, look to avenues where it may not cost you money if you must (money is just another form of energy), and then look to see what you can offer in exchange for what you receive.

hello. I am writing because I am concerned for a child. You see she is only 14, and has been abused more than half her life, but it got really serious when she went into 5th grade. Any abuse towards anyone of any age is abhorrent.
We do not promote casting spells to go against anothers free will.
What I would instead recommend is a protection spell against harm.
As the key with spell work is that it is centered around yourself and what you want - as opposed to making others do as we bid.
So she would want to be safe and not be harmed (which in effect means she is no longer abused by her parents).
See the difference.
A healing spell and a justice spell may also be appropriate.
The key with spell work is that you can indeed cast for yourself to achieve the outcomes you want.
You must NEVER cast against another's free will - no matter how wrong their actions are - as to do so would mean you would attract back the law of threefold - you will be punished three times in magnitude for your wrong doing.
There are so many other ways to heal, protect yourself and move forward positively rather than seek revenge.

I have been practicing witch craft for over 20 years, and numerous times I look for help on the internet for spells or rituals. Basically I seek ideas to add to my own knowledge. Which is how I came acrosse your hub page. I must commend you for your strong advice to your inquisitors. This is the first site I have had the pleasure of reading that has been so upfront and honest about workings of witch craft.
More specifically I was impressed with the under 18 clause, and the spell casting advice you gave.
I would like to respond to the reader who has problems being shocked when certain things are touched. I think that person needs to learn how to ground and center themselves before touching those items. I have a friend who has the same problem, and when I taught her how to ground and center, the problem went away. It was just that she was creating energy, and carrying it around, not aware of the energy, and not aware that it could be removed. Anyway, grounding and centering can help a great deal.
Please keep up the great work you are doing here.

I have read a few of your interactions with people. I was raised to believe that there is only one God (southern baptist) and anything else is wrong...I have always felt that that was wrong and never really had very many spiritual monments except for on my own...I feel you are very responsible in your advising and everything I have read recently feels so right.... I went to this one website and they were giving out free spells and the one that caught my eye, well not really a spell but a ritual I think... When you charge a crysta or gem, I actually saw myself doing it and when I was writing down the steps I actually felt energised....Maybe Im just wishing this but I do know what I felt. Next I started looking into other sites and didnt feel the samething untill I came to this one and started reading some of your responses to some of the immature statements..... Relising they were kids I was relieved at your views.....I am looking forward to investigating this religon more..I am very happy to see responsible people out there knowing that this type of stuff can be very luring to teens and people or websites will take advantage of that.. It was very obvious to me right off that bat at the sincer sites and the ones out to make a buck so far anyways......Thank you. I would offer to add to what you wrote that Witchcraft is not a religion. It is a practice.
And witchcraft the practice can be found in all cultures and religions, both ancient and current. Often it is called by different names.
The most common Religion that witchcraft today is associated with is the pagan religion of Wicca.
Many get those two confused, in that they think it is the same thing.
You can in fact be a Wiccan and not practice The Craft, you can be a practicing witch and not be Wiccan - you can be both and you can be neither.
As you build up your knowledge base, I do encourage you to remember that true witchcraft is alway white witchraft.
And that if anyone is offering revenge spells, black magic spells and the like - that this is not supported by the Witchcraft community and it is instead break-away individuals who quite possibly are hurt and angry themselves and like attracts like - they will offer such dark negative spells to equally hurt and angry people.
We do not support that in our community in any way, shape or form.
