Freecycle
77Stuff for free and its good for the planet too!
So, I was having dinner with friends the other night and one of the gals told me about this freecycle website. She proceeded to tell me that you can just go to the website, register and find stuff for free. Yep absolutely free she said. You can also find someone to take stuff off your hands like that rowing machine you had such good intentions of using when you baught it ten years ago well ten years and twenty pounds later you couldn't even find anyone to buy it at your tag sale (well granted the noreaster that came throught that day did not help). Now you just want it out of your house. Never fear freecycle it here.
According to the freecycle website:
The Freecycle Network™ is made up of 4,504 groups with 5,284,000 members across the globe. It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. Each local group is moderated by a local volunteer (them's good people). Membership is free.
Alright, the thing is I have never personally used this website so I have decided to make this an ongoing hub about my experience with freecycle. First things first lets sign up.
- Welcome Page to Freecycle
So far I have found my community and signed up. This is the page where you go To sign up, find your community by entering it into the search box or by clicking on “Browse Groups” above the search box. Have fun! - Yahoo Registration
If you do not have an account you will be required to create a Yahoo account its free and you will be lead to this page by once you land on an area group and begin the sign up process.
PrintShare it! — Rate it: up down flag this hub
I would love to hear about your thoughts and experiences with freecycle, please share
I WAS TALKING TO A FRIEND & SHE TOLD ME TO COME HERE IM LOOKING FOR INFO ON MY BIRTH PARENTS& HOW TO FIND THEM MY EMAIL ADDY IS rattmanstigras_692006@yahoo.com can some one please help me in my search thank you
I hope that you have enjoyed your visit on Freecycle! I am originally from Buffalo NY but currently I live near Plattsburgh NY. I was in on the Freecycle network in Buffalo and luckily I found it here as well. I have received items such as clothes and furniture as well as passed on clothes, furniture etc. It is a great way to help out your neighbor and to keep items out of landfills. Happy Freecycling to you!
O.K. so now Im on the Freecycle message board
I'v clicked on the "100 New Messages" link and see that the last post was posted one hour ago and it reads:
"WANTED: Children's craft supplies (town name)
Working the kids corner at a local fund raising event-looking for some craft supplies that someone may no longer need such as: glue sticks coloring books "
A link is provided to view more details. Hmm I think I may have some of this stuff, sounds like a good cause. Im going to follow up. I click on the contact link and send a message "I think I may have some of this stuff, How many kids are you expecting?" send. Wow this is real easy!
Just below that post is another it says:
"OFFER: Popcorn popper (name of town)
Popcorn Popper works fine just needs to be cleaned. "
Too bad I don't eat popcorn, it causes issues with my dental work . I'm gonna keep looking and see what else I run across.
Check in next time when I actually list an "OFFER" and "Wanted" ad.

Nice pic Annie Couture! I have picked up some things for free and it's fun! My non profit group was even able to advertise in the Shelton Freecycle group their tag sale and and let everyone know that they could come and take what was leftover for free.
