Why I Chose Home and Not a Cubicle!
64Beginner Bum Marketing Chronicles
I had lunch with one of my undergrad design professors on Thursday and he asked what am I doing with my life. It's a question I have been getting from everyone in the older generations. When I quit my awful retail job in April I was rewarded with better health, happiness and energy, however as far as the family establishment is concerned I could not have made a larger error in judgement. I only took the awful manager in training job with one goal in mind. To train for beach volleyball because it was flexible. But as it turns out there was 0 flexibility and many large demands on me physically and emotionally I was too tired or sick to train.
So from that I learned two things, beach volleyball made me happy and 45 hours a week on my feet in one dark and loud place made me miserable. Beach volleyball unfortunately does not pay much when you are on the tour let alone on the development circuit. So what flexible job can I find that allows me to travel, train, and work a few hours when I have the time? That has been my quest this summer. I have tried the MLM's and the sales distribution and even looked into call centers, personal assistant and nanny positions, but alas to no avail. Craigslist has had numerous resume submissions from me. I know you are thinking that Cali has 11% unemployment and how can I be so picky. Well 1. I have savings, 2. if you are not happy then what do you have?
In the "get me through til Christmas mode" I have been doing freelance design and coaching. While working on a practice plan I stumbled onto a home based business(another one right!) that intrigued me. I did some research and digging and found out they are legit. They don't promise to make you millions, there is no mystery product, or hoops. It's a resource with a ton of people giving you their opinions their knowledge and their missteps to help you learn your way around it. I have not made money yet but I am discovering how you can and can do it from home so yay! Which is what I have been searching for all along. I have only been at it a week, I will keep updated on this hub of how I am doing in the wealthy affiliate university and the beginner bum marketing course. If you want to learn more just ask in the comments.
And just so you know, I am single, no credit card or student loan debt, I do not have a car or house payment, and absolutely no kids! This makes my quest easier because my financial burden is low. I was lucky to get health insurance, but that is another hub in itself!
