Let's Give Our New President a Chance

I am overjoyed that we have a new president and administration that promises to be flexible and diverse in implementing new ways to improve the state of our nation.

I was embarassed and ashamed for the Republican party this year regarding their campaign methods, which consisted of very little but personal attacks on their Democratic opponant, fear-mongering to manipulate the American voters and borderline bigotry. It is a sad day when they have so little to offer that they must concentrate on what is wrong with their opponant, rather than for what they stand and hope to do for the country. It was enough to make one ashamed to be an American.

Following the election of our new President Obama, I have noticed a continuing trend of doom-pronouncements, more fear-mongering, lack of faith in our nation and its people and criticism instead of support for our new leader. I am not into "messiah" following, as some have termed it. However, no man in office is going to be a magician, even if he has a strong cabinet of men to aid him. To solve our problems and change things for the better, it is going to take the work and cooperation of the American people. Thinking we can sit back and believe that only our leaders can make changes is disempowering to American citizens who proved in November that their voices and votes do make a difference. No elected official is able to keep all his or her promises, but with our attention, urgings and support, we can work with this president to make positive changes occur that are possible. I have faith in the ingenuity and the good hearts of the American people and believe that if we mobilize our unified efforts, we can meet the challenges and high ideals to preserve freedom and the pusuit of happiness that our founding fathers and freedom fighters after that envisioned.

Americans! Leave behind your fears and negative thinking. We are America. It is not just a piece of paper, or land or merely a dream. We can make America a place to live that is much better than it ever was.

Thank you,

G. Wilson

Well now that the election is over and the shock most americans have in losing their jobs, we as Americans, will need to be more people oriented. People help people not machines and CEO's of huge companies who pocket they profits. It will be a new ballgame now as we strive to get back on our feet.
