French Toast Recipe Easy Enough For Kids to Make
70French Toast
French toast may also be referred to as griddle bread or lost bred, but it's always going to be just plain old french toast.
Some kids love it, some eat it, and some just plain refuse it.
I'm not a big fan of my mom's French toast, but I do like a good French toast recipe. I just wish my mom would use this one more often.
Ingredients & Utensils
Ingredients:
2 Eggs
1/2 cup of milk
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons of margarine or butter
6 slices of firm- textured white bread*
Maple syrup
* Tip: If you don't use a firm- textured bread, like French bread, you'll need to cover the bread slices with paper towels and let them stand out on the counter for a few hours until they're dry
Utensils
- Medium mixing bowl
- Rotary beater or fork
- Measuring cup
- Measuring spoon
- 9- inch pie plate
- Large skillet
- Pancake turner
Directions
Crack the eggs into the mixing bowl and beat with the rotary beater or a for until the yolk and whites are mixed together. Add the milk and cinnamon and beat until well mixed.
Pour the egg mix into the pie plate.
Put of of the margarine or butter into the skillet. Place the skillet on the burner, and turn to medium heat, and let the margarine melt.
Dip 1 slice of bread into the egg mix and using a fork flip the piece of bread over so that both sides of the slice are coated.
Put the slice of bread in the skillet and repeat with another slice of bread.
Cook the bread until both sides are lightly browned, which should take about 1 1/2 to 2 minutes on both sides. You can use a pancake turner to peak underneath the bread to decide if it's time to flip.
You may need to use the rest of the margarine in the skillet for the other slices.
Serve the French toast with syrup. Some kids like added powdered sugar to the top. You may even want to consider adding a fruit mix.
