French Toast
Ingredients :
- 1 whole egg or ¼ cup egg substitute
- 1 egg white
- 2 tablespoons 2% or non fat milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
- 4 large slices slightly stale, whole-grain bread
- vegetable spray or butter
Procedure :
- Place whole egg and egg white in a medium shallow bowl, beat with a whisk or fork until blended. Add milk, vanilla and cinnamon; mix well.
- Preheat skillet over medium heat, spray with vegetable spray. Dip slices of bread into egg mixture, coating both sides, and place in hot skillet. Cook until brown on both sides. Serve hot.
Toppings (optional)
Try cinnamon applesauce, chopped fresh fruit and maple syrup, fruit sauces or a light coating of fruit jam.
