Fashion Snoozer?

Wake up! Welcome to summer 2008. Get set for a fashion adventure with unexpected twists and turns. An up-to-date image can propel your career forward. It's as easy as, listening, looking, and expressing. So, pump the adrenaline into high-gear and let's move you on to the professional fast track.

Prints & Patterns: Pucci, Missoni & Me

It is all about patterns right now. Do they have to match? No. Pattern mixing is a hot trend.

Personally, I love vintage Pucci and Missoni. I have sometimes salvaged their worn-to-death iconic patterns from my local Goodwill. Ressurecting yesterday's treasures from catwalk heaven. Tearing them apart and fashioning them into scarves, collars, cuffs, and linings.

If you reside in a professional arena where artsy patterns, international style, and 60's love-child prints would thrive, here's your chance to mix it and match it. If your business focuses on the conservative, liven it up with a pair of Pucci print sunglasses, a geometric print top, and a color-block scarf.

Gypsy Style: Jewelery Montages

If you are in a free-wheeling industry where art and expression are appreciated then an armload of bangles, rings on most of your fingers, gobs of chains around your neck, and multiple belts winding around your waist and hips, are all ways to update your look and express your inner gypsy, Time travel back to the summer of love by living the look of Hippie-chic.

If your 9 to 5 gig is in an office cubicle with corporate conservatives then best to leave the summer of love back in the 1960's. Bring your look forward with a softer approach to the traditional business suit and a few accessories that will traverse both worlds. Perhaps a soft suede belt worn more toward the hip?

Listen to Your Inner Fashionista:

Look to the catwalks of Paris. Check out Vogue, Allure and WWD. Once you find your fashion niche it is easier to express your style. Where do you fall on the fashion meter? What is your scene? Where is your heart and soul? Take a look at fashion industry icons, entertainers, celebrities, and crowds that gather at local happenings.

Don't betray your individuality by carbon copying someone elses look. Do use the power of observation to tune into key trends. A secret rocker? Key garb would be the essential black leather jacket beaten and mutilated, grungy skinny-leg levi's, and faithful old T-s.

Glam Factor:

Too drab? Want to glam up? Secret siren waiting to be unleashed? Fragrance, lingerie, and jewelery all turn up the heat on your glam factor. Before you step out the door be sure to load up on jewelery, a long scarf, some sexy heels and clutch. Ooh, la-la.

Easy as One, Two, Three:

  • Listen to your inner Fashionista. Find who you long to be and express it with your look.
  • Look to industry icons and find key trends. Personalize these trends and incorporate them in your style
  • Express yourself through living in style, the style you have chosen, that is.

Outward Expression=Inner Peace:

Your health; mental and physical, is vital! Preserve both your integrity and your sanity by remaining true to self. Avoid masking over who you were intended to be. Don't disguise yourself underneath someone else's look. When you are able to operate as yourself, money and success, are more sure to follow. For those of us who love fashion dearly, fashion is more than expression, it is therapy!
