Important Information:

Four Gold dog foods--Adult, Puppy and Reduced Activity/Senior--were introduced during Fromm's 50th Golden Anniversary year in the pet food business.

Each is made exclusively from muscle-meat, with no poultry by-products, and we've added Probiotics and Prebiotics, like chicory root extract, to aid health and digestion. And we've eliminated wheat to help prevent allergic reactions. In addition, each variety is scientifically formulated to meet the specific requriements of the young, adult, senior or less active dog. This is the ultimate pet food, for the dog who has everything.

As with all our pet foods, the entire line is guaranteed nutritionally complete and balanced for all stages of a dog's life as substantiated by the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) feeding tests.

Pet Food Reviews

Ask Susan Peters - Are Fromm Healthy Dog Foods?

Brewer's rice and brewer's dried yeast are by-products of beer production. There you go, your little pet gets what is left over after a beer run, the stuff not fit for human consumption.

I do not care for the use of salt. I see no reason to add salt to our pet's diets.

I am greatful that Fromm does not use Corn, Wheat, or Soy as fillers in their pet foods.

The use of Corn, Wheat, and Soy are causing such awful conditions in pets including:

  • Dry and itchy skin
  • Fever
  • Ear aches
  • Ear infections
  • Hot Spots on the skin
  • Bad breath
  • Dental disease
  • Hair loss
  • Sore feet
  • Abnormal nail growth
  • Bloat
  • Weight gain
  • Tumors
  • Moles and warts
  • Seizures
  • Blindness
  • Deafness
  • Heart conditions
  • Kidney conditions
  • Liver conditions
  • Early pet death

I have started feed the Fromm brand dog food and cat food. I am very pleased with it and ingredients in it. As long as it keeps up its high neutritional ingredients, I will continue using it and telling my friends about it too. Nancy Weaver.

Susan, Is Fromm's a good high quaity senior food? Are the protein and phosphorous levels good for a healthy odler dog (11 1/2 years old). We are weaning our dog off well known brand whose senior formula is mostly corn. We want our dog to be as healthy as possible and live a long healthy life. What other brands of Senior dry food do you recommend? Thanking you in advance for your response.

Cheryl,

Fromm's is just average. Don't be taken in by "senior" formulas. Find yourself a good quality pet food and feed that. Companies make "senior" pet food and change the feeding instructions - rarely the ingredients.

I don't know what to suggest since I do not know what is available in your area.

Let me know if I can be of further help to you.

Susan, I live in Fairfield County in CT and there are a lot of holisstic brands available, Wellness, Merrick, Artemis,. If you can give me a few recommendations, I should be able to find one of them. She does suffer from seasonal allergies - sneezing, wheezing, runny eyes. Could the corn have anything to do with that? What would you recommend for cat food, both dry and wet. Thanks for your help and for providing this website.

Cheryl,

I haven't found any cat food I am thrilled about. The Wellness looks pretty good for both though still has room for improvement. The allergies will go away as soon as you change foods.

Artemis has loads of fillers and toxic ingredients. NO to Artemis.

Same with Merrick. Better stick w/Wellness.

Susan
