Front Sight Firearms Training
53Front Sight Protecting the Second Amendment
Front Sight Firearms Training Institute is the nation's largest gun training school. Every year, Front Sight delivers firearms training to more students than all other major gun training schools in the nation combined. With its phenomenal drive, excellent program, and immense student base throughout the nation, Front Sight could easily be called one of the most important, powerful players in the political scene for Second Amendment rights. Front Sight's founder and director, Ignatius Piazza, takes full advantage of Front Sight's excellent position to reach the public, the media and lawmakers about situations which have huge ramifications for the American public. Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight have recently called the U.S. Supreme Court case concerning the District of Columbia's handgun ban one of the most important cases the U.S. Supreme Court has ever tried, and certainly one of the most important in relation to the Second Amendment.
The U.S. Supreme Court recently accepted for deliberation a case arguing the constitutionality of the District of Columbia's handgun ban. The District of Columbia's handgun ban disallows any and all citizens to possess handguns, even in their own homes, and requires that any shotguns or rifles in private residences be rendered inoperable. Front Sight and Ignatius Piazza call such a law absolutely unconstitutional. The District of Columbia's handgun ban clearly goes against the Second Amendment which says that the people's right to bear arms shall not be infringed. Say Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight, when the District of Columbia says no handguns are allowed, that's infringing on the right to bear arms! Therefore, the District of Columbia's handgun ban is unconstitutional. But will the U.S. Supreme Court agree?
Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight can't imagine why they wouldn't. As if the fact that precisely what the District of Columbia's handgun ban does is in opposition to the Second Amendment wouldn't be enough to convince the justices of the U.S. Supreme Court, the commonsense ramifications of the handgun ban should be.
One of the core principles at Front Sight is that firearms training is safety. Ignatius Piazza and all of the trainers at Front Sight demand nothing but the best from themselves and their students when delivering gun training. Every aspect of Front Sight's program takes into account the fact that the more firearms training an individual receives, the better he can defend himself. It's quite obvious to see that firearms training is the only thing that one would be able to have to keep himself safe if he were ever attacked by an armed attacker, so why would lawmakers prevent citizens from owning firearms?
A person armed is not necessarily safe, but give that person firearms training and he can keep not only himself safe, but his loved ones and anyone around him. Front Sight and Ignatius Piazza are more than aware of the aura of safety which permeates from anyone who receives professional gun training and can keep themselves safe - which is why a law like the District of Columbia's handgun ban is so completely backwards.
The District of Columbia's handgun ban, apart from being completely unconstitutional, could never keep someone safe. The U.S. Supreme Court must come to realize this and Front Sight and Ignatius Piazza are hoping that justices will see that.
