Healthy Eating Healthy Beauty

Are you eating healthily? Answering yes to this question means that you are thinking about your body and your skin. However, those items you have sitting at home in a cupboard, the fruit bowl or lurking in the salad crisper in the fridge aren't just good for eating. A healthy diet benefits your body inside and out. However, there is a way to increase the benefits even further.

Instead of spending a fortune on cleansers, toners, and moisturisers or a day at a beauty salon, why not create a deliciously exotic facial experience in your own home at no extra cost?

Let's cleanse

Clean your face using natural yoghurt on cotton wool. Rinse with warm water.

Let's exfoliate

Mix two tablespoons of oats with enough warm water to form a paste. Rub over the face and neck in a circular motion. Rinse off with warm water.

For greasy skin add a tablespoon of course oatmeal, brown sugar and freshly squeezed orange or lemon juice to the mix above.

Let's pamper

Mix two tablespoons of natural yoghurt or cream with one mashed avocado or one mash banana mixed with a tablespoon of runny honey. Apply to face and neck. Leave for 10-15 minutes and then rinse off with warm water.

Let's calm, refresh and tone the eyes

Calm, refresh and tone the eye area whilst pampering the skin with a mask by covering closed eyes with cold used tea bags or slices of cucumber. Lie back and relax.

Let's calm, refresh and tone the skin

Create a light and refreshing toner for the skin by mixing cold water with cucumber juice. Alternatively, use cold camomile tea for a gentle and soothing toner. Apply on cotton wool.

For skin with a tendency to be greasy or prone to spots, mix cold water and lemon juice. Apply on cotton wool.

Let's moisturise

Blend the following ingredients thoroughly: three tablespoons of wheatgerm, three tablespoons of runny honey, one tablespoon of glycerine and one tablespoon of witch hazel.

Frugal Beauty

It hasn't been specifically stated but to keep the cost down further still use the cheapest brand of each item that you can find. This will often be the supermarkets' own budget brand.

Look in your fridge.  Don't bin it!  Create an exotic beauty product and waste not want not!

Of course, these are only a few ideas. Do you have your own recipes for facial beauty products using everyday foodstuffs found in ordinary homes? Why not share your ideas?
