Fun Facts About Marijuana
Marijuana also known as cannabis, reefer, pot and ganga has been around since prehistory. It became popular during the 60 and 70's. It is a psychoactive drug which is made up of dried leaves of female plants. It can be rolled and smoked like a cigarette or smoked in a bong with water. It is illegal in some countries while others have reduced and even let people smoke it openly.
The effects of smoking marijuana are almost immediate. The smoker can experience a faster heartbeat and pulse rate, bloodshot eyes and a dry mouth and throat. This drug will effect and impair your memory, concentration and co-ordination. There are those people who smoke marijuana because they have a terminal illness and it makes them feel better.
People can become a marijuana smoker by peer pressure through friends or even family. In this article we will try and uncover the lighter side to marijuana with some fun facts:
- -both George Washington and Tomas Jefferson grew marijuana on thier plantations
- -its first recorded use for medicinal purposes was 2727B.C.
- -hemp was once considered legal tender in the U.S.
- -cannabis and hemp are the same

In Oregon you can't buy or sell marijuana but you can smoke the drug on your own property! How bizarre is that law?
There are three main types of marijuana. Canabis Sativa, Cannabis Indica, Cannabis Ruderalis. You may have heard of something called "Skunk Weed"? This is a hybrid of Cannabis Indica.
The reason marijuana is illegal is because in the 30's cotton growers lobbied against hemp farmers. They thought that the hemp growing would just be competition for them. However, the argument has become the fact that marijuana is not as addictive as caffeine, alcohol and nicotine.
Today hemp is actully used for many purposes. It is primarily used in making clothing but it can also be used in other fabrications like rope.
Sterilized hemp seeds can be turned into bird seed. I wonder if that is what is in my bird feeder? It does seem to attract a lot of birds!

you're right tay, I mean people were only doing pot for thousands of years before washington was even born, but what do they know. pot became illegal because the cotton industry put the financial lean on the govt to get it illegal because hemp blows cotton out of the water. it's still illegal because the pharmaceutical companies put that same lean on the govt.

i'm sorry jr, but i've never heard of anyone dying from pot. personally, i love pot for it's purpose of calming my whole system down. just like in pineapple express, seth states that pot 'makes you feel better, food tastes better, even sex is better!' it's only when you abuse pot that you can end up a 'low life.' if you use pot in certain incriments, or until you know your limit, you should be okay when it comes to using. there's no way to overdose, like you could with alcohol or drugs. unless, you smoked your whole body weight. it's hard to believe it could be physically possible because most people can't even smoke 15 grams in one sitting, let alone 1 pound! i'm all for legalizing. let's get out of this depression and put the U.S the way it's supposed to be.

i like smoking marijuana some times i feel bad about smoking it but only cause there is a law agianst it if ur being realistic you would legalize mrijuana all strains lol just no real reason to keep it illegal

I couldn't agree more with you pumping. If anything we should be making the laws tougher on people for possessing marijuana. In fact I believe law enforcement doesn't do a good enough job. When they find marijuana on someone they hardly ever force the issue to find out who delt this person the drug. If they made really tough penalties, this would make the buyer, or whomever got caught with a small amount, cooporate to lower the charges against them.
Excellent point Wendy!!! Out of every argument about legalizing pot, I've noticed that the ones who are against legalization make the most sense, and they can always back up their statements with FACTS.

Pumping why is marijuana on this earth, it's on this earth for a fucking reason. marijuana doesn't just appear out of nowhere. if people want to smoke the magic reefah then let them i just don't understand why people that don't smoke have to make a big deal about something like weed its just stupid and when i smoke i'm more focused. people should decide for themselves at least on somethings you know.
Okay seriously pot isn't bad at all cigs cause more harm to your body than pot people know what their doing when their high being drunk is way worse than being high. How many deaths have been because of weed car crashes to medical almost never. Weed doesn't give you hangover or make you black out so what's the fuss people always say drugs are bad so they get the idea that weed is a terrible "drug" but it's not outof every thing people could be doing outthere weed is among the safer of the specrum of legal and illegal things people could do and legalizinging and taxing it is a brilliant idea to get our economy out of our rut so that's my veiw on that
The only way you can die from pot is if you get into a car accident. You can't overdose. There are 0 recorded deaths from solely pot. There are pot related deaths but not from the drug itself. Plus, as far as smoking goes, you can always vape. Gets you 40x as gone and you don't have to deal with the smell or tar build up. Just beautiful THC vapor =)
Wendy why would you want tougher charges on marijuana users. So that the jails can be full so they just relocate a murderer or a rapist. If i want to unwind with a drink in my own home there is nothing against the law about that. but if i want to unwind by taking a hit from a bong which is way less damaging to your body there is. I have a right to happiness and marijuana makes me happy

Marijuana is a plant just like tobacco. People who are against legalization make sense? I believe someone said drugs smell and are gross. While were at it lets put laws on carrots because it helps our eye sight. Marijuana users are less violent and ANY person who is in-toxicated would not contribute anything to society. There have been no deaths from OD'ing (which is impossible since not one person can smoke there body weight in marijuana let alone a pound) and not one reported case of lung or any cancer for that matter found from smoking marijuana. You let the tobacco industry put so many harsh additives and chemicals in cigarettes that actually cause cancer let alone kill the user. Any time there is a trace of THC (active ingrediant in marijuana) there is always alcohol. Alcohol kills your liver and makes you do things you wouldn't normally do. You have no control of yourself. Marijuana no matter how much you smoke will EVER make it so you cannot think for yourself. If you do something you regret while high that's on you. Alcohol alone and tobacco alone kill so many more people than marijuana has ever in however long it has been used. There is a little fun facts educate yourselves and I can bet some of you people would say I would never do drugs with a cigarette in one hand and a beer in the other. Just because its legal does not mean it is not a drug. Any mind altering substance is a drug. Let me smoke what I choose and let me put into my body what I want. Normally people who say keep it illegal are ignorant un-educated people but not all...Anyway that's my two cents =)

the only reason why its illegal is because they can't test people for it. if your walking down the street stumbling they can breathalyze you. there's no test they can do on the spot for weed. if someone could find someway to test ppl for it, it would probably be legal someday:)
if weed was never mentiond in the law then it is not a drug it just something you somke with friends to soiclize o at big events also they should put tax on weed so the govenrment can give money to the poor and the sick just give it a try well yea just makes evrthing bitter

Weed is a wounderful thing that should be treated with respect and used with responsibly. Just like any mind altering substance. I belive it is here for us as humans to enjoy. And i will gladly endulge, But at the end of the day it is a personal choice.
Marijuana is not addictive does not impair your memory or kill brain cells there are millions of people in the US that smoke weed. Judges smoke weed Lawers smoke weed Doctors smoke weed. its just some people are idiots and abuse it. I have a cousin that has MS he can't even stop shaking but once he smokes some weed its a completely different story he can talk and sit still.

Before i smoked i got straight a's and had a part time job. Now that i smoke i still have straight a's and i have a full time job. i dont encourage or condone the usage of pot, some people it just might not be right for. I just think that people have the right to make that decision for themselves.

For anyone who believes that I should not have the right to smoke Marijuana, please show me concrete, unbiased proof on the advantages and disadvantages of Marijuana use and not outdated beliefs that are based on experiments that have been proven invalid or simply wrong. More so, and more importantly- please show me where you derive the authority to dictate how other people their lives. For god's sake, google some facts. Just read. Read unbiased research that's based on an open-ended search for the truth rather than the trash that you read that misleads you, misinforms you, and selectively chooses information to feed you in hopes of fabricating a view that matches their own. I envy other generations. It seems we have lost the ability to think for ourselves, we're fed bullshit on a daily basis and that we completely disregard the notion that we have our own wills. I am up tonight doing research for an upcoming project on cannabis, and I have found interesting things... some I knew... some I did not... However, here at the end of my digital journey I would like to impart the wisdom I take with me... First, to those who believe pot to be a harmful blemish on society... please do some research... if you have half a brain you will see that the positives so far outweigh the possible negatives your head will spin. Second, to those of you standing up for legalization... please use facts not expletives to substantiate your point.
To those who question if pot should be legal... please look up:
*medical uses
(i.e. pain, PMS, opiod dependence, glaucoma, IBS)
*hemp uses
(i.e. clothing, rope, paper)
*who supports legalization
(i.e. leukemia & Lymphoma Society)
*what other drugs are used in place of THC
(i.e. methadone, oxycontin)
*death rate
-other forms of consumption
(as to exclude the necessity of smoking the 'drug')
I am not saying that weed is right or wrong but I have some good reasons y it should be legal.1 the government could tax it and make a killing on it and boost our economy.2 it would help clear out jails for people that were put in there for smoking pot this would save taxpayer's money for keeping those guys in jail.3 we would pay less to keep rapists And murderers in jail...so those are my points
Since when is a persons productivity solely related to whether or not they smoke weed? Sitting on your ass watching tv all day is unproductive whether you're completely sober or high as a kite. Your only productive if you do productive things, regardless of your sobriety m.

My wife had Breast Cancer...Marijuana helped her appetite, pain and helped her relax...Is she a junkie?, does she smell? is her intelligence lessened...NO...to each his/her own...ignorance is a funny thing...commenting on something you haven't experienced is just opinion....I'd rather my wife be a pothead...than be miserable from her illness

These are some Dumb fun facts, THC is good if you use small amounts in a spaced out period of time. The only way its addictive is if your Dumb and smoke allot in short periods of time and then you'll become stupid, so for me More THC Please!
