Did you know at the time of the Spanish conquest, the Inca Empire was the largest in the world. You can find 28 different climates in Peru. How would you know what to wear? Have you ever drank a Piso Sour?
It is the most popular cocktail. If you prefer a coffee Peruvian coffee is said to be extremely good by both Americans and Europeans. Then of course we have the popular Lima bean which originated in Peru.
Here are some fun facts on foods:
- -macchu picchu is an archeological masterpiece
- -incans would not be considered married unless they exchanged sandals
- -the Incans would put peanuts in caskets to help in the afterlife
- -the average lifespan of a woman is 71
- -inca made pots in the shape of peanuts that were highly appraised
- -the potato is from peru
- -the tomato is from peru
- -Peru's corn has the biggest kernels in the world
- -the avocado is from peru
- -there are 468 typical peruvian dishes
Other fun facts on cotton and trees:
The finest cottons in the world come from Peru. There is also a tree which produces tannins for dyes. A weeping willow from Peru produces the base to make aspirin.
The Peruvian root Maca is what they make Viagra from and has been around for hundred of years.
Birds:
- -there are 1701 species of birds the most in any country
- -the Peruvian bird is the Gallito de las Rocas which has been coined - The Rooster of the Rocks
Speaking of rocks:
- -Peru is the biggest producer in Latin America for gold, zinc and gold
Here's a truly fun fact:
- -in downtown Peru there is a large brass statue-this statue has actually been dedicated to a child-hood and endearing bear called "Winnie-The-Pooh"
- -Another furry animal the Llama originated in Peru and is used as beasts of burden. However, females give milk and flesh. This animal is truly utilized with wool, leather and rope being made from thier coats. Even the waste of the animal is used for fuel.
A Spanish conquistador named Franciso Pavarro conquered Peru and in the conquest he died. His body is preserved in the main square in Lima to this day in a glass casket and the public can view it! Maybe, they should charge admission?
So there you have some fun and at times strange facts about the country of Peru. It certainly has a history and seems to be the originator of some of our popular foods and drinks and other provoking products that makes our society and country better.

This facts were really helpful for a project I'm doing in Social Studies. And interesting. Love the Winnie the Pooh fact. It sounds like such and educated fact "childhood and endearing bear" right up until the name! still laughing...
