Keep Kids Occupied With Fun Party Games
63Birthday parties are great fun
but too often children will get restless very quickly if they don't have something to do. One of the most common ways to entertain kids during a party is with party games. Here are some classic children's party games that will be sure to keep the little ones occupied for hours.
Duck Duck Goose
To play this game, all the children will have to gather around in a circle, and the guest of honor should be the first to start the game and be the goose. The child will walk around the circle tapping each guest on the head while saying "duck" when the child taps someone and says "goose" that person must chase the child around the circle until he or she is caught. At that point that child becomes the goose.
Pin The Tail On The Donkey
To play this game you must place your poster or picture on a wall. Blindfold the player, and hand them the object to pin on the poster; spin them around and point them toward the picture. Whoever gets their pin closest to the right spot wins the game.
Hot Potato
This is a classic children's game where all guests sit in a circle and pass an item around at the same time that someone is playing music. When the music abruptly stops, the guest holding the item is out. The game continues until there is only one person left who then becomes the winner.
Simon Says
All guests stand in front of a leader, which is usually an adult. The adult will then say Simon Says to jump, stand on one foot, flap your arms, etc. All the children do the same as the leader, but if the leader says to do something without saying Simon Says, the kids do not do it. All those that mistakenly do so will be out, and the last child remaining in the group is the winner.
Musical Chairs
This is a fun game that many children enjoy. To play this game you setup some chairs in a circle with the seats facing the outside of the circle. If you have 12 children playing, there should only be 11 chairs. Start playing music as the children are walking around the circle of chairs, when the music stops the children must quickly sit down. The child left without a chair is out. With each round one chair is removed until there is only one child left sitting in a chair, and this is the winner.
Carnival Games
Set up some little carnival booths that contain classic games you may find at a carnival, such as knocking down cans with a beanbag, rubber ducks in a small pool, etc. Give each kid a prize when they win. This is also a great way to help them fill their party bags.
