Fun Party Games
72Ideas for fun party games
Imagine you're at a party that's starting to slow down and you feel like playing a simple game, but none of your friends can come up with ideas for any fun party games to play. This has happened to me all too often, I know a lot of fun games that would be suitable for such a scenario, but in the moment of truth, when I'm actually in the situation, I can't remember a thing. Therefore I made it my mission to collect all the ideas for fun party games I could get my hands on so I could be the smart creative guy with all the great ideas at the next party.
I'll share my best ideas with you here on my hub and feel free to spread the word and try a new game at your next party, be it a birthday party, bachelor party, family reunion or whatever!
A simple number game
My first example is a game with numbers.
Required equipment: None
Rules: You sit around a table and take turns saying numbers in numerical order. So the first person says "one", the second says "two" and so on. "Stupid game", you think, it's pretty easy... Yes, but here's the tricky part: Whenever a number that I'm about to say is divisible with a predefined number, e.g 3, or contains that number, I'm not allowed to speak that numbers name but should instead say a predefined word, e.g. "doh". If I screw up and say the number - I'm out of the game.
A quick example with the previous assumptions (3, "doh"). This is how it should be spoken around the table:
1, 2, "doh", 4, 5, "doh", 7, 8, "doh", 10, 11, "doh", "doh", 14, "doh"... and so on.
You usually don't come very far, even if you suspect it's a simple and silly game. There's always someone that messes up early and you'll restart with a different number. The game is pretty fun to play for a little while, especially if you play it as a drinking game (where instead of being "out" you have to drink a zip of beer), because in some weird way alcohol seems to affect your mathematical skills...
A simple word game
Next up is a word game, don't finish the word!
Required equipment: None
Rules: You sit around a table (or whatever) and take turns building a word saying one letter at a time. If you finish the word you're out.
Example: The first person starts with "F", the second says "R", the third says "O". Now, if the fourth person says "G", he's out because "FROG" is a word, right? So that would be a bad idea. Also, you have to know a word that starts with the sequence of letters you have just said, so you can't just say a random letter. In the previous example, maybe person #1 was thinking about "FISH", #2 had "FREQUENCY" in mind, and #3 thought about "FRONT". If you suspect someone is cheating and is just making up a letter without having any corresponding word, you can challenge him and then he has to say what word he was thinking about. If he has a proper word, you're out, if he doesn't, he's out.
A pretty funny, very simple game for all Scrabble fanatics. Also suitable when bored during travelling.
