I've always enjoyed answering questions and giving my opinion especially with surveys and questionnaires so I was pretty excited signing up for free surveys online.

But there weren't enough and I wanted to get paid for my opinions. I might as well seeing as I was spending so much time doing them.

This led me to search for paid surveys and I was scammed into joining a paid survey site. I quickly got a refund and searched some more.

During my search I found a site that offered over 600 survey companies and it was free to join. The thing about it was they were offering the same 600 sites that the site that scammed me was offering. Don't ever pay for surveys - they are supposed to pay you.

Claims of people making thousands from home with surveys are simply lies. Surveys can be fun and you can make a couple hundred dollars if you choose the right ones.

The site that offered the free surveys, over 600 of them is www.yellowsurveys.com. Another site that you can get paid for your opinions is mylot.com. Not surveys per se, but rather online discussions where you can earn and create a community as well.

Again, dont ever pay a survey site to do surveys. There are places where you can take fun surveys for free.

Why Free Online Surveys Don't Work.

If you're looking for free online surveys as a way to make more money or supplement your income you may end up being disappointed.

While online surveys may be fun there are a few reasons why they shouldn't be for the money.

  • Most of them are US and Canada only. Although there are a lot of international sites, Mylot being one of them, you may find that the ones that interest you don't usually pay outside the US.
  • They pay very low per surveys - many free online survey sites don't pay more than a dollar per survey contrary to the ads that say you can earn $5 - $75.
  • Passing the screener - surveys usually screen you to see if you qualify for the survey and if you don't pass you don't get paid. Now surely you could use something thats more guaranteed.
  • No checks - even if you complete the survey they offer to enter you in a prize draw that you have a small chance of winning or some shopping voucher etc.
  • You have to do a lot of these surveys to even qualify for a check and there's all types of conditions you have to meet.

Those are just a few reasons why free online surveys aren't worth it. Believe me, I've tried them before.

They're still fun to do when you have a little spare time and you can earn a bit from them so check out Yellowsurveys.

Thank you, kpfingaz. I'll give a look into mylot. This is the first I've heard of it. I, too, have become increasingly frustrated with point systems and prize draws. Just pay us already! Some do, of course, you know the $1, $2, $5 per survey folks. The big money is in focus groups, product testing, and vehicular advertising. Big earnings are possible, but you've got to sift through a lot of crap to find the gems. Great page. Thanks again.
