Creation of Funeral Program Booklets

Funeral program booklets can come in variety of sizes however the most common sizes are single fold letter size (8 1/2 x 11) or tabloid size (11 x 17) single fold. Funeral program booklets are great for a memorial service if you need the additional space for text such as an extended funeral obituary or special family written tributes to the deceased.

A funeral booklet will provide ample room for text and photos. The funeral program booklet is essentially the funeral program in an extended format which spans multiple pages. A booklet can contain anywhere from 8-25 pages or more. The funeral booklet generally does not span more than 25 pages but it is flexible enough so that if you do need to create more pages, you are able to.

Ok, so how do you create a funeral program booklet? The best way to create these treasured keepsakes is to purchase a funeral program template. Because you will need enough time to gather your text and photos, producing a booklet from a template can save much time in the creation process. Templates are great because once you have all your information you can start entering it all into the template without worrying about layout, format or design.

You will most likely need to add pages to the booklet template to accommodate the amount of pages you will need. This is accomplished by copying the internal page and creating a new page in the application you will use your template in (i.e, Microsoft Word, Publisher, Apple iWork Pages for MAC). Entering the text is easy with a template because the text boxes are preformatted so all you need to do is overwrite any existing placeholder text and paste your own words in the box.

You can rearrange text boxes, add some, and add photo boxes, if desired. Once your booklet information is complete you should think about how you will bind the booklet. The most popular ways are spiral binding or stapling. Stapling the centerfold pages is a good cost effective option if there are not too many pages within your booklet.

If however, you have over 10 pages, you should consider having it spiral bound. The cover and back page should be of card stock paper quality and the inside pages can be a lighter weight paper. You can take the binding process to an office supply store and have it done the same time it is printed. Or you can print it yourself and then take it to the office supply store for the finishing touch.
