Funny People is a very misleading title
57Not a comedy
When you go to see a movie entitled "Funny People", you can reasonably expect to see a funny movie. Apparently, reasonable expectations aren't allowed anymore. The previews for the movie made it look like a pretty funny movie. Yes, there is a part where Adam Sandler says something about dying, but it is followed by joking around. The scene in the doctor's office, all about the doc's accent and foriegn furniture assembly. Funny stuff. Well, if you want to see the comedy Funny People, watch the preview. If you want to see the DRAMEDY (dramatic comedy) Funny People, waste your money at the box office.
I was actually more depressed coming out of the movie than I had been since they regulated my medications. What really sucked, was this was the movie my father took me for my birthday "Daddy Day". I wanted to go see The Ugly Truth again (you can never see Katherine Heigl fake an orgasm while at a corporate meeting too many times), but I never get to do anything with my father, so as usual what I wanted to do for my birthday went out the window and I had to see a crappy movie with crappy penis jokes the whole way through.
Had I gone into the movie knowing that it was going to be mostly sad with some breakthrough laughs, I might have enjoyed it. Basically, I'm more upset about being lied to than I am about the crappy movie. There was an upside to all of this...the box of Butterfinger minis I got seemed pretty fresh. Every black cloud right?
Little serious...Lotta funny!
Previews on YouTube
I guess from now on before I see a movie now I need to check YouTube because had I watched the first two previews on YouTube I would have known it was going to be sad. The one I've put here is mostly funny.
