Funny and Mistranslated Signs.

I recently came across a very funny article in "Heat Magazine" that featured a good few hilarious signs, often mistranslated from other languages into English. Some of these were road signs, some names of shops or hotels, some are not really signs, but simply mistranslations on menus in restaurants. The end result being that I was left laughing my head off, and decided to do a hub that simply featured a load of the funniest examples of these I could find, both within the magazine, and on the Internet itself. Below are the results of my efforts, at least 100 examples of funny signs, notices, menu entries etc. I hope the humour appeals to you as much as it did to me.

Enjoy!!!

All I want to know is, which translation school they went to.

No wonder why they can't drive in English speaking countries.

Here a couple I made up.

"Please drive thru window for fast service"

"Please yield to fat people"

If my nearest church was called Saint Cyril of Alexandria I think that I'd feel a lot safer staying in bed finding reason to shout "Oh God!" than to go within cooee of any of its priests.

This is so funny LOL. Just a couple of days ago coming back from Poitiers we went through a small town called "St. Julian Ars", my daughter couldn't stop laughing about it!

Thanks Ms Chievous, glad these gave you a good laugh. Another example that springs to mind is when my sister and her boyfriend were on holiday in Spain and they went past a restaurant with a sign outside that said "Pidgeon English spoken here". They thought it was hilarious.

Thanks Kephrira, I spent a bit of time searching for them, and there were many more, I just thought people might find it a bit too long if I put too many more in one hub.

Thank you Dave, they may well be, but I have no reason to know that. I am glad you found them funny and enjoyed them though :)
