Generation 1 Transformers

The Transformers have enjoyed quite a bit of popularity in recent years do to the films that have been released. Transformers and Revenge of the Fallen have been a huge success in the theatres and this has helped spur growth for these toys. Many newer fans of Transformers are not aware of the original Generation 1 Transformers toys but hardcore fans remember them well and continue to collect these pieces.

G1 Transformers toys are very collectible and are some of the more expensive vintage toys from the 80's. Finding a sealed G1 Transformers toy can be a very good investment and many collectors earn a living scavenging the internet and yard sales looking for these precious finds. The holy grail of G1 Transformers toys may be Fortress Maximus. There have been quite a few eBay auctions for Fortress Maximus that have sold for well over $1000 so if you see one at a great price you may want to think twice before passing it up.

Many fans first remember Transformers from the original episodes on T.V. in the early 80's. This series came about after successful the toy company Hasbro purchased the Diaclone Toys and partnered with a company called Takara to distribute Transformers toys in the United States. These toys were wildly popular among fans and this helped fan the popularity of the Transformers television series.

Although the Transformers series varies from the original storyline in the Transformers comics it was very popular.

In recent years, Takara and Hasbro have recreated many of the more popular G1 Transformers toys into newer versions.  This line of toys are called Transformers Masterpiece and are very collectibe.
