GK first found its root in the Philippines, and as the achievements of the organization spread like wildfire, people from all over the world stand as amazed witnesses to the miracles of volunteerism. Now, GK communities in the Philippines serve as a template for other countries to follow.

To date, Gawad Kalinga has already established nearly a thousand communities all over the Philippines. Volunteerism is the lifeblood of the movement, and because GK has inspired many, thousands of volunteers are willing to share everything they have for the cause. Even corporate organizations are already part of Gawad Kalinga proving that social responsibility comes before corporate rivalry.

GK is already a distinguished socio-religious charitable organization worldwide. GK communities can now be found in other third world countries, and the volunteers come from various walks of life, proving that genuine compassion can break social, national, and economic boundaries.

The movement is about to hold a summit to officially unite all of GK’s effort and launch a massive call for volunteerism to the world. The goals of Gawad Kalinga in the forthcoming years will be presented in the summit. Plans and vision for the movement will also be discussed. This summit, which will happen in Boston, Massachusetts, is a major step in shaping how the organization will play its role in nation-building.

GK is just one of the leading socio-religious organizations in the world. With its continuing efforts to effectuate positive social transformation, it will create a ripple effect that would transcend the boundaries of color, nationality, territories, and cultural differences. Through GK’s extraordinary feats of compassion, it would build a better Philippines, and eventually a better world.

Gawad Kalinga is a powerful catalyst that could bring the country the unity and peace it deserves. If only many would answer the call, then the goal of building a slum-free nation that adheres to values will be an attainable goal. By planting a seed of hope in every heart of volunteers and beneficiaries,  Gawad Kalinga has developed into a transformative movement.
